So... something of an update. Since my re-publication of the fic in question, I have received 37 views, and 6 people have put me on Author Alert. Of those, three have offered to make fanart -- using suspiciously similar wording. So, it may be that there is a fair bit of bot activity going on.

Not that we couldn't have used that message back in the Livejournal and IRC days -- to say nothing of Usenet! But, some evils never really seem to die, but persist perennially as a counterforce....

I recently noticed that Thunderbeak's wiki page does use "he/him/his" to refer to the character, and until we get a clearer picture it might be prudent to use singular "they/them/theirs". It can always be reverted if we end up with another JBW Airrazor.

It didn't seem prudent, all things considered, to enter the United States. I wish it were otherwise, but that's not up to me. Still, I look forward to the reports.

There was also the whole Ratchet-all-alone-on-the-run-from-the-one-mech-army business for two issues -- but that was all the way back when Furman was the regular writer for IDW-2005-G1, so one can be forgiven for forgetting it. Because damn, time has indeed flown.
