So, am I the only one whose watched this absolute masterpiece on Max?
It's 15 episodes and it is far and away, the most accurate depiction of a modern ER on television.
Headed by Noah Wiley, who is apparently referred to as Dr. Daddy by the cast, it is hard hitting, emotionally raw, and fantastic.

Personally, for me, I love that they have an openly autistic doctor. Dr. King. She has a sister who has a more pressing form of autism, but Dr. King is not a stereotype nor is she useless. Frankly, I have never seen autism so genuinely presented along with the contributions they make.

I would highly recommend this show to anyone even mildly interested in medical drama.

Do you dislike Shaun Murphy?

Yes. I couldn't remember the name of the show.
Yeah, I just can't. We're not all savants. We're all not that super awkward. It feels like after Sheldon and now this guy that the accepted autist is always some kind of weird genius who needs to be taken care of socially.
Add in RFK's recent remarks and it seems that you're either this super genius or you're a corner rocker. Doesn't seem to be much room in between for nuance. Dr. King in the Pitt has that nuance. She's clearly got some differences in social situations, but she's smart and caring and dedicated. Not 'I magically know the answer' smart, but regular "I studied my ass off and know my jive" smart.

And thats part of the appeal of the show. It is so stupidly realistic. And it goes hard into the issues of medical professionals, the stress, the pain, the PTSD and everything else. There's a ton of Youtube videos of doctors and nurses doing commentary and they all say the same. Aside from a bad depiction of CPR, this show is super accurate. Like, triggering flashback levels of accuracy.

I'm just tired of the 'super socially damaged, but really a super genius' trope. Dr. King felt genuine.

So I'm not disagreeing with you at all about Dr. King. I haven't seen the show and it sounds like I should. To me Dr Murphy is really interesting because I can sit on the couch and imagine myself having these strokes of genius that save the day. I don't work in a field where I save the day, but it is fun to imagine that I could. I HAVE had experiences at work where figured out something that no one else was figuring out by pulling together all the things I know about it. Not every week like Shaun.

Try the Pitt and get back to me. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I don't have MAX and I don't intend to get it, but I did read about the real time concept of the show and that is also intriguing.
