Oh, that doesn't affect me at all. I've long known to try and keep Alvarez' ideas at arms' length. He might as well have come up with "Muscular Aardvark Saves Kalamazoo" and I'd be like of course he did.
That might actually be less dumb than this one.
It stings because I really really wanted a MASK comeback. But it always made more sense as something that could happen as a subset of GI Joe (an impression helped along by the Matt Trakker they did for 25th) rather than as one of many things they spun up out of nothing and then expected people...
Totally get that.
The only thing I'm sure on is Hatchet. Passing on Skywarp, still mulling over which scorpion colorway, and Galvatron I'll consider quite a bit down the line. And i agree, it's nice to have a gap in the buy list. It's a relief.
But I'm glad Hatchet is finally getting made.
Oh, those can just be picked out in gold chrome or glow in the dark paint, and the rest of the helmet will be painted in dark colors (to match the movie shot) so they really stand out. The smoke effect will 3mm peg into the mouth.
I forgot to mention Cyber Keys and the like. On the one hand, I'd rather not have clunky weapons and main figure-compromising spring-loaded features (Override). On the other hand, when it's well-integrated (Hot Shot) or split off into the accessories (Ransack, Thunderblast) I can deal. The...
That does sound nice. I may even bite with a 2pack of both in matching translucent decos, IF that includes the gridlines on both (and preferably has more detailed greebling in pink rather than white). As good as Reformatting Galvatron turned out I felt that was missing. The RED Reformatting...
Yes. That. Give me that.
And ditch the Revenge guns, use the plastic to give us a taller cannon spire and maybe better boot-ends.
But mainly that color.
I like seeing the odd little sublines for big product pushes like the movies. The Flex Changers I don't have to buy, but the new thing they're trying is intriguing (still not quite sure how those work). The smash changers (?) seem interesting too. Just the usual "let's reach younger audiences"...
I'd like to see a side-by-side of the previous release with this one in the same lighting (I've seen cropped photos side by side), but right now it's still looking a bit too similar for me. If anything it's not blue enough? Or too saturated? Something. But it does feel like a few clicks away...
I forget if I've shared this before, but I remembered I had the picture when the Galvatron discussion came up in the other thread.
This is the Dark-ISM (3P) head for the WFC Galvatron mold. Decided to get it to set my Galvatron and Galvatron II apart, and so I wouldn't have to look at the...
I think the DW G1 comic/toy overlap was largely coincidental, in that G1 was experiencing a huge revival at the time and both avenues were being used to cash in on it. They weren't actively promoting one another (beyond ads and blurbs). Sure, there'll be some cast crossover, but it's not like...
A redo of Prowl with faded eyes and a blast effect simulating the smoke billowing from his mouth.
Make it a two pack with just Earthrise Starscreams's lower legs in charcoal gray and a flattened crown that 5mm pegs under Galvatron's foot.
I'll be glad to finally get Hatchet. I'm kind of either/or on ROTB Scorponok and Double Punch. Although I will say I wish Double Punch were more in the Botcon Japan colors with the dark blood red base. Although sure, I'd prefer that on Kingdom Scorponok anyway. This is just a bit... boring...
I recall there started being a push to use toy designs in the comic around All Hail Megatron, so we'd start seeing things like Universe Sunstreaker's look.
If I were Hasbro I'd have just asked for a Titans Return miniseries or something, disconnected from the main comic. Or run it as backup...
I'd completely forgotten that Titans Return did that, or maybe I tuned them out entirely at the time because I thought they were just generic line promo rather than individual character blurbs. Damn.
I miss lore.
I do like how it worked the other way around, when Hasbro made toys of a bunch of characters who'd become fan favorites through that era of IDW. Tailgate, Brainstorm, Swerve, Whirl (albeit less MTMTE and more G1)...
I just miss having regular fiction tying in with the toys and bringing things...
