Seems like it. I watched several episodes over the course of the evening, which was great, but there didn't seem to be any sign of the flood of Gobots stopping anytime soon. Would love to have the series On Demand, but this is a nice little shot of nostalgia.

You can definitely "over gimmick" a figure, but I do like when they add a few interesting touches. Auto-morphing was usually pretty fun when done well. It doesn't even have to be complicated, the occasional "head pops out automatically when you fold down the chest" or "purely cosmetic gears...
