Yeah, this year has been spottier for me than others. I'm finding that there is a lot going on in other toylines that I collect (GI Joe, Diaclone), and this has taken some of my focus away from Transformers. That said, I was just charged for Straxus, so he'll be another September addition.
Color me educated too! I had no idea that this existed but am impressed with what it is. For a bunch of cardboard, it does a good job of hitting the notes of "Autobot base", and the sizing is pretty generous, IMO.
I cast my vote for Alpha Trion because I like him and crucially, I know who he is (I never got into the lore of The Thirteen, so 🤷♂️ ). I also voted for Leader G1 Sandstorm because he is really fun and looks the part in all three modes.
For SS, I voted for Commander Optimus even though he...
I still think that they knocked it out of the park with that particular lambo mold and its various incarnations. It is full of proper robot chonk and is insanely satisfying to transform.
I used to have the earlier Dia Battles release but had to sell it a couple of years ago, along with a few other non-Transformers things. Out of what I sold, this was my biggest regret, and I am glad to have an opportunity to pick one up again.
I would be completely on board for a Voyager-because-of-parts & engineering G1 Headmaster Arcee. And let's just call the Headmaster "Daniel" for realsies.
It's interesting because last night when I originally posted, I only glanced at his robot mode. Didn't realize that he was a straight Grimlock repaint.
I would like to officially amend my original assessment and give it an "eh." The new head is nice but nothing about the rest of it screams...
I would definitely be up for a modern-day take on Grandus. But a more faithful take on G1 Metroplex and a better version of Fort Max would be higher on my want list.
