In this instance, at least, I'm thinking less "distraction" and more about his transactional mindset. He's done a lot of his tarriff-threatening specifically as a means of negotiation to get other countries to do what he wants them to do. I think the same can be suggested about his stated desire...

Agreed, but even if it were to be split up, the most logical ways for such a split to take place would likely still end up advantaging Democrats over Republicans. Like so much of his agenda, the orange either hasn't thought this through, or he's not really serious anyway (likely because his true...

    Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

I'm usually annoyed at how quickly many people scream "distraction" about some piece of ridiculousness perpetrated by our current government, but I really find it hard to see this as anything else.

    Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

Common sense apparently looks like this to Trump: Accident happened There are protocols in place to keep these kinds of accidents from happening. Only very intelligent people can manage these protocols. Since we know the accident happened, it can only be because we had less than intelligent...

Like the others, the "new" crime here was committed before the pardon, but I still feel the need to respond with the words "very fine people."

The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

I was just about to say something similar... there was a whole big fuss about how energy-consumptive it is to do cryptocurrency. This latest move by Musk just shows how disingenuous he is.

Energon Universe - ongoing Transformers and G.I. Joe comics from Skybound

If they're alien robots (not organics) then yes. That doesn't shame me the way you seem to think it's supposed to.

Energon Universe - ongoing Transformers and G.I. Joe comics from Skybound

I know I'm the minority, and so have largely bowed out on these conversations, but comments like this force me to remind folks that (for me, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone), robot-on-robot violence hits VERY different than violence upon organics. It's all the difference in the world.

The 2024 Us Presidential Election Thread

The difference between "trying" and "succeeding" seems enough to respond to this comment. We've seen that Trump is more than happy to do the very weaponizing of the legal system he accuses his opponents of. A pardon takes out at least some of the tools he has to make things stick. He's left with...

The 2024 Us Presidential Election Thread

Definitely the former. The most famous example was Ford’s pardon of Nixon back in 1974. It covered pretty much anything that could have been thrown at Nixon at the time (no legal charges ever had the chance to be brought). It wouldn’t have covered any theoretical crimes Nixon committed AFTER the...

The 2024 Us Presidential Election Thread

I imagine that the pardon Trump would give to himself will only be pulled out if one of the federal charges becomes active again. 1) He can't do anything about his current felony conviction with a pardon, since it's not a federal charge. 2) He doesn't want to pre-emptively issue a pardon only to...

Who else would have been? Or are we assuming that someone who didn't run, would have done? Remember, DeSantis used to be far more popular than he is today. (Or, to put it another way, everything you just said about DeSantis also applies to Trump. That "rare ass charisma" you cite is just our...

I'm very much in agreement, although I do wonder how DeSantis's efforts might have worked if he wasn't actively campaigning against Trump. Trump changes everything.

    Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

That's pretty much it. It's extremely annoying to see the legions of so-called "Christians" condemning the sermon as "political" or somehow out of place in a place of worship, or who accuse Budde of not knowing her Bible (which was quoted and paraphrased extensively) because of her (and, often...
