Blokees

So I looked and I didn't find a dedicated thread for Blokees. Having finally gotten some, I want to talk about them.

So for Christmas I asked for a box set of the Transformers Galaxy edition Blokees. The blind packs. Was hoping for series 3 Autobot run, but got series 5, based on TF:One. All good though. I'm very pleased with them.

Overall, these guys are just great. Not terribly complicated to make and super solid when they're all snapped together. Full of ball joints so they move well and pose wonderfully.
The characters in this box set were nicely varied. You get both a cogless Orion and an Optimus, a D-16 with Cog as well as Sentinel. You also get B, Wheeljack, Ironhide, Hound, and one of the Sentinel guards. The chase is a metallic Optimus. I didn't get the chase, but the standard Optimus looks really good on his own. I'm not upset that I didn't get the other version.

I'd been wanting a few of these as I thought they'd be fun pocket toys for work. Especially when I'm stuck inside a vehicle all day watching grass grow. I think for that purpose, they'll be wonderful. I'm definitely going to get more when I have some funds to spare.

I'm curious about the larger kits. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they worth the time and money?

I've been collecting the G1 Galaxy Blokees. Once they were a few waves in and it was apparent that they'd be releasing a good assortment, I was all in. They're definitely a lot of fun! I'm still waiting to see if there will be more to the TF One assortment before I commit on those, though. I may just eBay a few select characters.

I haven't gotten any of the larger ones, so afraid I can't offer any feedback there.

I'd have liked to see Elita over the background characters like Wheeljack, Hound, and Ironhide, but overall this first set is a decent assortment.
I really want a few more of the Sentinel guards they call Death Trackers. They have a cool vehicon vibe to them.

The Death Trackers are the specific dark-colored ones that work for Airachnid. Sentinel's personal guard are the Gold Trackers, while the generic mook soldiers are the Silver Trackers.

I am glad that the newer ones have the hinge joints already assembled. Snapping the halves together was fiddly and occasionally painful. Not as sure about the newer necks, though.

What I'd really like is for the bases to provide a way to keep the spare fists secure, though.

I'm interested. On paper these shouldn't be my thing at all, but I can see the appeal. The articulation is nice and these things are actually cheap.

A little over $60 for 9 well articulated, sturdy figures is, honestly, a bargain. Breaks down to around $7 a figure.
I think I'm going to order that box of Autobot run and maybe one of the bigger ones to try them out.

Picked up the individually sold Nemesis Prime. It's not much bigger than the blind-packed figures, maybe a head taller, even uses a lot of the same inner parts for the torso, waist, and biceps. But it also has a higher parts count, more weapons (axe, arm cannon, two swords, and I think the spikey thing is a Matrix?), plus a light-up torso (the neck and eye parts are transparent, so it's light-piped). And, y'know, it's not blind packed.

The Galaxy versions use smaller plates, the Shining versions use a bigger one, and the individuals include two of the bigger ones. They can connect with plates of the same size, but not the other size.

well, since i'm stuck here in a blizzard getting railed by winter's hate boner, I went ahead and ordered a box of wave 3.
I'm sure it'll be here by the time we dig ourselves out.
