In a recent move, Hasbro new VP of Digital Toy Sales, David Burke, has announced that Hasbro will be transitioning to digital toy sales in most retail environments. Following the example of movies and video games, at such retail giants as Walmart and Target, Transformers will be switching to a digital format by the end of the third quarter of 2025. "We are switching our product from Just In Time production to On Your Own Time production. This will enable us to mass produce as much product as we need for any given location, market, or target audience."
Fans of Transformers will now be able to purchase packs containing all of their favorite upcoming figures on SD memory cards. Then they can take those files home and print them off on their own 3D printer at their own convenience. "Fans love custom classes at conventions and pay hundreds of dollars to be able to assemble and paint their own Transformers. Well now everyone can do that for a regular retail price!" said Burke while kicking his feet up on his desk. "With 3D printers so readily available now to the general public, we are excited to be leading the charge for this new retail experience for Transformers fans all around the globe."
Looking at the new packaging, Hasbro plans on filling the retail space with plenty of upcoming Transformers product. Their initial line up of figures consisting of four classic Autobots and four iconic Decepticons, is set to pave the way for the future of toy sales. Check out the first wave below:
