MPG-09 Super Ginrai in-hand transformation video:

His cab is actually smaller than MP-44!

And his transformation is relatively straightforward with only a decent amount of complexity to it, none of that "fold the entire figure inside out" or "Fold a million teeny tiny panels to make everything line up" like other MPs have been.

His combined robot mode looks to be roughly two inches or so taller than Legends Super Ginrai, making him look about the same height as Legends God Ginrai or your average CW Combiner.

Looks interesting but will hold out for the Fire Guts repaint.

Okay, guess I'll say it.

That looks ******* horrible. Like, just absolutely terrible. For all of that, I'd rather have an original but "Missing Linked" up. It would be more satisfying to me. The arms in combined mode and that method of shoulder articulation looks terrible. The combined mode itself could and should do so much more, but it looks like they did the bare minimum. It's crap. The only thing that looks remotely decent is Ginrai's individual mode. That looks okay. Nothing about the combined mode looks good.

I remain content with Thunder Erebus. Even without divine armor, he looks a hundred times better and, back when I bought him, was cheaper than this.

I have a soft spot for Masterforce and I am not sure whether it is because of my soft spot for PM Prime or whether they just feed each other.

If Ginrai had been not as tall as MP Prime just because of how it worked out I would have shrugged my shoulders. But the truck is smaller too. They just didn't bother making him in scale. Maybe it isn't a big deal. BW is on a different scale. It isn't as if Ginrai interacted with anyone else we've had on MP so far. They made Star Saber under scale, didn't they? just because he would be so big. But Ginrai would have just been a little bigger.

Minvera is also not a Headmaster, so that would make her the Victory version after she stopped being a transector and became an independent being. :p
Mark giving us Legacy Minerva's backstory was hilarious because all he had to say was "this is the version of Minerva that became a sentiment transector and that's why she's not a headmaster" and it would have been perfect.

Instead he said "Minerva lost the ability to be a headmaster when she went through the Legacy portal" and it's like... Mark. Minerva from Masterforce was a human being. Her "losing the ability to be a headmaster" is some cosmic horror "and I must scream" crap.

What would have been even easier for him to say was that this was IDW2 Minerva.
I don't think Hasbro makes much distinction between IDW1 and IDW2. The pre-War capsule two packs that leaned on IDW designs included IDW1's Senate emblem and IDW2's Ascenticon emblem on the packaging. They're both just one big pot of story concepts and ideas and designs to draw from.

"IDW Minerva", then. The point would have still been understood since there was no IDW1 Minerva.

I do wonder, why back in G1 was Optimus/Ginrai turned around backwards/made double sided for the cab? I had the original Powermaster back when it was new and that was one thing that confused me. I wondered at the time if it was to get a less 'flat' robot mode, but seeing as the face itself was a mask on a flat plate, that didn't seem to be a consideration.

That would have been easier but I think Mark wanted to emphasize that they were doing JG1 characters so they leaned into it being Masterforce Minerva.

I'd put $5 on Mark not knowing Masterforce Minerva was actually a human piloting a lifeless transector when he made that comment.

That still probably was the main consideration. They just didn't go all the way with it. It happens.

PM Prime/Ginrai had a lot of cool conceptual ideas. The head of the supermode was gonna transform into Roller. Which explains why you're just supposed to toss it in the trailer in vehicle mode and why it has nowhere to go in base made.

Wouldn't shock me if the base robot having a faux cab chest was the result of some compromises as the design got pared down.

I love that the show kept it though.
