I've always wondered how much editing it would take to turn Masterforce into something fitting Hasbro's lore. Like the Shout sub, but taken to a Macek tier extreme.
The Omni dub went as far as just flat out calling Ginrai, human and all, "Optimus Prime".I've always wondered how much editing it would take to turn Masterforce into something fitting Hasbro's lore. Like the Shout sub, but taken to a Macek tier extreme.
I want in on that hatchet jobI've always wondered how much editing it would take to turn Masterforce into something fitting Hasbro's lore. Like the Shout sub, but taken to a Macek tier extreme.
It was already cringe enough when they released reissues of Dile, Zaur, Noise, and Graphy as 'Dairu', 'Zauru', 'Noizu', and 'Gurafi'."Kyansa" as an example, the Japanese pronunciation.
Eh, it's just an idea. If I had my way it would "Kayansa" or something like that. Turn the Japanese pronunciation into a whole new name.It was already cringe enough when they released reissues of Dile, Zaur, Noise, and Graphy as 'Dairu', 'Zauru', 'Noizu', and 'Gurafi'.
We needn't encourage this jive again.
I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't done this with the Japanese shows sooner, while the existing US G1 cast is still alive.I've always wondered how much editing it would take to turn Masterforce into something fitting Hasbro's lore. Like the Shout sub, but taken to a Macek tier extreme.
Since the character is Chinese, so I'd say go with his Mandarin name (Jùxiè), which does come from the Chinese name for the astrological Cancer.Eh, it's just an idea. If I had my way it would "Kayansa" or something like that. Turn the Japanese pronunciation into a whole new name.
I'm a huge MF and Victory fan, and while I get that "Cancer" is a name that can't be used in the West, I don't think that means retconning him out. The better solution, IMO, is to find a new name that still harkens back to the original.
"Hey Muzzle, it's a good thing you Nebulans can shape shift so you can hide out on earth! Your school girl look is chic! And Nightbeat's new red and white colour scheme is pretty sharp!"I've always wondered how much editing it would take to turn Masterforce into something fitting Hasbro's lore. Because there's no reason to do it?I'm surprised Hasbro hasn't done this with the Japanese shows sooner, while the existing US G1 cast is still alive.
Go progressive and have Muzzle be transfeminine.I feel like Minvera would still be treated as a new character, but Shutu and Cab would very much be Quig and Lug.

Oh f those peopleNot when People can't even handle a robot being non-binary.
Blaming the franchise's shortcomings on Rik Alvarez is always a safe bet.though, I have suspicions that it was probably more specifically Rik Alvarez
because nobody actually really cares about the original Japanese stuff anyway.
The thing is, the majority of these responses came from people who, in other posts, were thrilled that these DVD sets we're being released in the US. If they were that excited, they had to have had some care about those shows. As someone that does enjoy the original Japanese stuff; I also can't say those people are wrong. I feel like most people don't really care about the Japanese stuff, beyond maybe just collecting the toys they never got. It feels like BW2 and BWN get MUCH more attention and Respect then JG1 stuff.
I think you're mistaking "care that they exist at all" vs "Care about getting an actual accurate translation and/or dub" I feel like people are more willing to accept a subpar sub, then they are a bad dub.The thing is, the majority of these responses came from people who, in other posts, were thrilled that these DVD sets we're being released in the US.
