Anything is additional play value when the ability to point your gun forward was a feature.

I didn't say it was a high bar, just that the sled did help. It wouldn't help as much today, but I do miss it.

Given how sad trailers turn out nowadays, Ironhide would have to be leader class to have a decent battlesled+robot. Maybe throw some oversized crap like movie Ironhide's guns or something into the box but It'd still be underwhelming all thing considered.

True, though in this case the trailer would simplify the engineering of the main figure rather than be a complete add-on.

I'm still holding out hope that there are enough easily remoldable panels on the ER ironhide mold to give us an energon towline

I should just buy an Energon Towline to get my battle sled fix. I bet it's not that expensive by UT standards.

My biggest regret about Energon Towline was not trying harder to track down the Botcon Ratchet version of the mold. I got the Ironhide, if I'd have ponied up the money for a Ratchet, I could have saved a ton on the Universe and Henkei iterations of the characters. (For some reason that escapes me now, I bought both versions of both characters.)

Local place got Goldymarg, and BBTS sent me three or four emails saying he was coming soon but never actually got him in stock, so I bought local. Pretty nice overall, but like the big guy himself, more a display piece than a toy. Yes, he can transform into tank mode too, I just don't feel like doing it right this second.

Hope you like this one pose with the full Marg Hand/Goldion Hammer, because he's not gonna be doing too much else with it. GaoGaiGar, predictably, cannot support the weight of it without help. At least they actually include the action base for it. The hand is a little weak, too; it seems to be recycled from a Perfect-grade Gundam (I think the 00 Raiser or Seven Sword, not positive) with new back and palm parts, but it's another one of those pre-molded poseable hands that doesn't really grip very well, and the tab in the palm is, again, not strong enough against the hammer's weight. Solid pre-posed hands would've been a better choice for something this huge.

Jeez. The vehicle modes are unfortunately toon, but the transformation does a good job of making the robot modes look magically oversized.

Next week will be interesting:
Entertainment Earth is now posting a “drop zone” where they reveal when new stuff is slated to be put up for preorder by various companies.
Hasbro has a, seemingly, significant drop for next Saturday with Transformers explicitly noted. With Rise of the Beast kids stuff due in the later part of March or early April, I’m expecting those.
January 10th and 17th, both Tuesdays, will have action figure drops. And Hasbro is still doing Transformers Tuesdays. There will be a drop on the 18th, but my gut says Star Wars or Marvel.

Imagine making an add-on kit that comes with the barest minimum of stuff for a toy with a small production run, and then half-assing it to this extent. We get it, hollow cannons suck; at least be consistent about filling in gaps instead of tossing in a secondary face that's a lateral move at best. Also lol accordion wings.

Wings and cannons that long might have looked okay on Masterpiece Star Saber, but it's just not the look HasLab was going for. This makes the whole super mode look like the work of an ambitious customizer, not an official mode.
