So, I found this diner at Goodwill and fell in love with it. Decided to put it on a shelf and built a diorama around it. It also gave me the chance to display some of my classic cars. I used O scale people. Not perfectly to scale with the cars, but pretty close. The house on the right is very old. It belonged to my Grand-father, as he was into model trains. I decided it fit in here pretty well. The background images I found online. For the asphalt, I used a piece of subflooring which I painted matte charcoal gray. I cut stickers down to size for the parking lines. Sorry if some of the images aren't the sharpest, as I used my camera with the flash off so it wouldn't drown out the lights from the diner, or create a flash on the glossy background.

Roy decided to hire a car-hop today, and put her on roller skates. 
So, I decided to make an adjoining addition to my diner diorama. I put up another shelf next to the other. I added a new surface to make it the dimensions I wanted. I then added another surface to that made of subflooring, which I painted green. Then, I made a road. I painted it and gave it lines using stickers. The house I found at Hilltop Hobby, same place I got my bus station. It reminds me of the Steven's house from Bewitched. I added some other small details here and there, and added some 60's cars. Even in the 60's, cops were sneaky! The background is the same one I used in the diner diorama, printed on card stock. I replaced the background of the diner diorama with the same images, except on non-glossy card stock this time, to try to reduce the flash of the camera. It helped. I also added some new details here and there to the diner diorama. This time, the only cars by the diner are 50's.

This time, the only cars by the diner are 50's.I moved the old house on my 50's diner diorama, and put up a simple 50's service center/gas station instead. The gas pumps and attendants were separate. It reminds me of a scene from Back to the Future, when Marty first walks into downtown Hill Valley in 1955. It's hard to believe that gas stations really used to be like this. I made some changes to the other side, in the 60's diorama as well.
A custom 1947 Chevy Fleetline Hot Rod (by Hot Wheels) showed up in front of Roy's diner today. I painted the guy to match. Gave him a white tee and a black leather jacket. Classic greaser look, and total chick magnet, of course.
