Well, he's certainly a better toy.
Personally I think both are absolutely wonderful figures. Some of the best figures from their respective lines.

Optimus and Megatron after filming has wrapped for the day, on the way to the office Halloween Party.

And they didn't even have to change their appearances after work, since they were respectively filming for Columbia and Paramount earlier that day.
All the extra Bayverse greebles are added post-production with CGI.
How long has it been since I've actually bought a Transformer at retail? Mostly I just preorder things, usually on BBTS, and forget about them until they turn up. Actually found Dreadwing at Target first. They had Armada Megatron too, but I'm holding out for Galvatron on that mold.
I got a replacement Mach Alert on Ebay - I broke one of the doors on mine several years ago, so it's been glued together in car mode since then.
This one's in great shape - I don't have a picture of the trio, but it's fun to have all three brothers in their powered-up forms.

Edit: - I took a new photo, which shows the (hopefully) colour-matched teal/aquamarine paint on his "pants", to match the details on the original BOTCON figure (see below).
