Either way, glad this is getting made, and Horri-bull soon to follow in that Target 4-pack with Animated Nemesis Prime (wish we were closer to finding out who the remaining two in it were).
I will say, the fact that we've been getting the Decepticon Headmaster Jrs via those Target packs makes me hopeful for Snarler, Catilla, and Chainclaw. HasTak has worked some magic with retooling all those TR molds, and they've been peppering in a lot of pretty obscure characters through them. I could definitely see the rest of the Pretender Beasts getting similar releases in the next few years, and I really hope they do!

I would love a Snarler. And a Finback! Although I'd like for them to go back to the Legacy style of blending shell and inner robot more.

It's funny, Carnivac is the only Pretender Beast me and my brother didn't have as kids, so I would expect him to be less interesting to me but the fact that he had a good sized Comic Book roll flips him around to the most desired.

ZacWilliam, Catilla is number two because he was the one of the three we had that I really loved and played with a lot.

Catilla was the only one of the four that I had. The other Pretenders I had were Octopunch and Monstructor. I didn't really love the concept back then, and found both the transforming bots to be kind of simplistic and boring and the shells to be both weird and not very fun. It just wasn't a very appealing set of toys for the most part.

The characters have grown on me over the years, though. And I really like the direction they've taken with a lot of the Legacy releases, aside from the fact that there's been no consistency across the full range of characters. I'd love to see that get fixed and get all of them back out there in some form.

Honestly, I think sticking the Headmaster inside the wolf body is vaguely Pretender enough for me.
From what Evan said about the figure back at MegaCon, this was the impression I got as well, that the intent was to emulate the Pretender Beast gimmick by using the wolf body as a shell for the head figure, which is colored to look like Carnivac's inner robot mode based on instances in the Marvel comics where it was primarily colored yellow.

are you seriously complaining about hasbro rereleasing a figure that was store-exclusive (and, here in the US, BARELY fuckin showed up in stores at all here along with the entire rest of its wave) as a mass-retail release a few years down the line?

yeah, hasbro wanting more people to be able to have the chance to find this figure, so disappointing.
...Unless he's mad that it's not an all new Crasher, one based more closely on her original toy or animation model. Which, uh, yeah, unless Hasbro ever completely buys Bandai (impossible scenario, I know), that ain't happening.

That's not what Studio Series is about, though.
It didn't need to be Studio Series both times, in that case. I'd be happy to see a toy deco in Selects, but with this release I'd say it's much less likely. This could have been what the first release looked like, and I doubt anyone would really be missing out on anything (ignoring for the moment the remolding, which I admit might otherwise justify it for some people).

This 3-pack is specifically based on a scene from the movie. That's why it exists in the first place.

I'm getting that set for Ratbat and Ramhorn.

The extra Perceptor will be... a thing.

I mean, it is a Studio Series toy, so I don't see why not we use the Studio Series thread.

(Sorry, that's just how the back half of that sentence read to me. ^^; )

As for de-headmastering Headmasters, I can imagine a few cases for it...

Galvatron comes to mind.

Or, at least, he would if there wasn't a better one already.

Super excited about that Carnivac. I absolutely loved him as a kid. I can still remember buying him from KB Toys at the mall and just fondly gazing at him in the box the rest of the shopping trip. I did love the pretender shell, but I was especially fond of his inner figure's robotic wolf mode, so I'm not disappointed at all that they prioritized it over his shell colors. I'm glad that they're giving him his wolf-mode visor eyes, as that's something pretty unique to the pretender beasts compared to other animal alt mode transformers. I would have preferred a remolded wolf head over paint, but I understand the economics of why we didn't.
