Transformers: Age of the Primes toyline discussion || update: Wave 1 Box Art

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

You're collecting plastic, if you're worried about the long term: you'd be investing the money you spent on transformers into an RRSP.

Regardless: time will make fools of us all.

In fairness they seem to have gotten a handle on the yellowing issue.

It seemed to have something to due with Covid, wither the lockdown effect quality control or something; but it mostly only seems stuff that was produced during those years where we see the extreme yellowing issue. Little to nothing since Legacy started has had the same issue.

If it did have something to do with Covid it makes those toys into interesting artifacts in a way. Even toys in that era got sick.
All of you who got rid of your Kingdom Cylonuses and Netflix Soundwaves will be sorry in ten years when they're collector's items!

So far so good... I seem to recall hearing Shrapnel had it, but so far not much more than that (and thankfully my copy isn't as yet).

In a way it's good that it took so long to do another run of Soundwave, which hopefully won't be subject to that. Others like Origin Bee are also getting another run. I'm not super into having to rebuy things (if it were just yellowing I may be able to shrug it off, but I've seen reports of plasticizer leakage and brittleness as well), especially now, but there are some pieces that might be worth it.

Headless reveals are clearly the new ‘blurred image’ or off kilter shot.

On topic. That looks like a very faithful Red Alert. Definitely gonna get this if it ends up as good as it seems to be.

And yeah, gives the other Atmada bad bots.

Also akso, now Red Alert is a real thing. I vam’t help but wish for a twopack of him and Legacy Armada Starscream in their Energon Sam’s club twopack colours. They would look very cool.

This. I've held out on Starscream in large part for this somewhat unlikely outcome. (And also that the deco is kind of lacking.. plus I still have and enjoy the T30-era set.)

Make it even be a Sam's Club exclusive just to mess with people like old times. ;)

Hehe. Why not call any hypothetical set the Sam’s Club Expedition set. :) Hmm. How about calling them Nightscream and Mach Alert.

Yes I am really pie-in-the-skying here. :)

I really do kinda wish I’d kept my twopack figures.

Mark seems to be implying that all of the non-Prime toys in the line (like Armada Red Alert and such) are supposed to be direct bloodline descendants of the 13 Primes themselves.

New lore: The Well of Sparks was created by the 13 uniting all of their artifacts together. No more "Murdered Girl Prime melts down to become Cybertron's babymaker."

Mister Meg T. Fallen's staff is the Spark Fuser instead of the Void Scepter.

So they know the old lore needed to go. That is promising. I'm still not expecting to care about the Thirteen, but there's a chance.
