Would that mean that beast combiners came about when Nexus and Onyx got... cozy?
Stuff like this is why I like the Well of All Sparks being a combined thing from all the Primes. (Was it mentioned if it was their last act or something, like a gift to their descendants?)

This way we get to have "the first __" without raising questions like "so how did those traits get passed on" or the possibility of tribes of just combiners or just beasts or just Mini-Cons and so on. (I don't mind those tribes being part of the history, just prefer they be factions rather than naturally-occurring dividing lines.)

IDW1 did establish that Nexus and Onyx made beast headmasters...

I think the Almanac gets people leery because it does because a combination of the already mentioned things. The Wiki may have its own set of logic and rules people don't agree with, but it's an island unto itself until people involved with it had the ability to cut out the middleman and get things changed for said wiki. People see the Collector's Club newsletter going "I'm the bigger nerd, here's some ciphers of a foreign release you never heard about but I gave them brand new names and personalities!" is eye-rolling but expected of it, and then the wiki going "this is the only thing that matters now" as a wiki problem.

But when you take a book explicitly about one continuity and use it as a blank check to start doing your retcons to others and you yourself know the idea would have been shut down by the higher ups so fast you make the entire thing coded secret messages as the only way to get it out there. Because they had to PotP Jazz it, it immediately sets off the red flags to people.

Also, as stated, coded secret messages to retcon every other Transformers show or comic has nothing to do with what the book is about.
F'ing thank you!

Hasbro could possibly even get away with it being a heavy retool of Kingdom Inferno, if they didn't want to fully commit to the original combining gimmick.

There was a combining gimmick?

Oh, wait. Is it like a Brave situation where it's partsforming?

Horribull is coming sooner then I'd have expected. and of course in another Multipack.

I really didn't expect anew Vector Prime toy, but I had hoped for a repaint/repackage. I dont think he even has the symbol on him?

I have to applaud that Hasbro will seemingly get the retail G2 Dinobots out of the way in short order. Grimlock at retail, the other two as Selects, and we have a complete "set".
I'm sure some will argue for the G2 Swoop and Sludge, but they can do so later without making a big expensive set.

United Vector Prime is fine with me, though I'd hope a repaint is planned. The TFOne grey/white and gold is quite attractive, I like it better than his base deco (I actually skipped Vector in 2005, got his Galaxy Force deco instead).

I'm still wondering if I can talk myself into more Leader class Dinobots, but this 2-pack is at least convenient. Now to wonder which colors which will get. I'd rather a red Slug and green Snarl, so maaaaybe.

Horri-bull and Animated Nemesis are welcome. I hope the other two in what's likely to be another 4-pack are good.

I love Project Sports. An extended range of stuff I can generally safely ignore. Unless I'm particularly wowed by mold choice and colors, this is good money saved. I'll need that for those dinos.

One question remains, though: Will they be the green and red versions, or the red and green versions?

He might actually be a good fit for the line, tbh. And the team hasn't been shy about doing concepts when possible.
I know, right?

Like many people, I fully head-canon the POTP Rodimus as Powermaster Rodimus Prime in my collection. He fits the bill pretty much perfectly.

Hah, same here.

I'd love to get someone to do a classic Marvel G1 TFUniverse-style art of Rodimus in this new form in the style of Powermaster Optimus Prime:

Just that same sense of "familiar, but different" that they had going on here, based more on the toy... well, in some cases, anyway. TBH, I have no idea how the models for Super Mode and truck came to be, but the base and smaller robot are pretty faithful to the toy in some ways.
