MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

Then you've got a pretty arbitrary, self-defined version of "MP". "Stumpy and kibbly" are not inherently CHUG signifiers, when those elements are entirely accurate to the character's onscreen design.

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

On what grounds are you basing this on? The official has a realistic train mode, with a lot of care taken to give it very minimal panel breaks, in order to appeal to the scale train crowd. The 3P version uses stumpy/truncated trains based on the original toy proportions, and covered in panel...

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

It's only "CHUG" if you prioritize the combined mode scale. Alt-mode finish and individual robot scale are very firmly Masterpiece. It's impossible to hit all three bullet points at once.

    Outdated game mechanics.

It's somewhat controversial, but I pretty much can't stand wholly menu-driven games anymore. I will tolerate old-school JRPGs for the nostalgia of the games themselves, but I really can't get into any new ones. They break down completely once I realized that they can all be beaten with a...

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

Unlike the 3P versions, TakaraTomy needs to pay licensing fees. I'm hearing that the MP Trains are actually priced quite similarly to high end model trains? Just a big difference in target audience, is all. Also note that the Japanese had no qualms dropping ~1200 USD on the Metal Structure Nu...

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

Provided the silhouette isn't skewed in some way, calculations are looking such that a ~30cm combined mode is accurate. The individual robots should only be Ironhide/Starscream height. Compared to the 3P version, they've just chosen to scale these differently. They've gone for accurate robot...

    HasLab Victory Saber

Unicron's filler pieces weren't because of hollows, but because they doubled up a lot of left-right parts to save budget, so the toy would've had a lot of glaring screw holes without them.

The first time I saw that I think I physically winced. Just one of the ugliest engineering solutions I've ever borne witness to.

That's also certainly part of it. But they've also put in a lot of work over the last several years to smooth out many of those hang-ups as well. The next couple of years are going to be interesting to see how they get by without trying to rehash 84/85/86 again for the majority of the release...

    HasLab Victory Saber

Not sure what you're getting at here. Minerva is already in the works, regardless of the success/fail of Victory Saber. But for her, I think she's also riding on Hasbro's desire to give more representation to female Transformers characters. Victory Saber certainly was gatekeeping a larger JG1...

    HasLab Victory Saber

The rumour mill had floated Deszarus as a mainline 2023 release, if Victory Saber was a success. Obviously subject to change this early out. But just as Unicron served as a precursor to SS86, pretty sure Hasbro has some ideas for JG1 representation in the next few years (already Minerva is on...

And trying to buy an official set now will set you back more than the HasLab one, so the value definitely doesn't feel there.

    Castlevania

I don't think Legion has ever been a particularly difficult boss. Just one whose design makes a helluva big impression (especially Aria of Sorrow's build-up). The Netflix series interpretation of it was pretty kooky and twisted, if less grotesque.

Should theoretically be a lot easier to sell than Unicron, as well.

What features we can make out from these low-res images seem to be side-grades to the original toy, in my opinion. Can't tell if there'll be anything resembling Minicon functionality, but the original toy really didn't have much of that, other than simply the ability to stick Minicons on him...

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

Hmm, nobody posted the (leaked?) product images here yet. Apparently from this Amazon.jp gallery that probably wasn't supposed to go live yet, as all the links are now dead. Gotta say, I'm the furthest thing from a train buff, but that's a helluva good looking train mode. TakaraTomy were...

MPG - new Japanese Transformers series

It's almost certainly the MPM. Pretty sure they're re-announcing that one, as initial release was "indefinitely postponed" according to Japanese retailers.
