And World Events Productions would sue!

That depends upon the final form of the robot and its look, because the copyright otherwise wouldn't apply as combining robots are dime a dozen and not just exclusive to TF, PR & Voltron, as there is a LOT of combining robots out there, espeically in Japan, where Voltron comes from in the first place along with PR robots

the Cyberjets were some of my favourites because they could actually strike a pose 😁

It's funny, because some people are like "Kids don't care about posability! Hey, kids, you don't care if your fighting robot toys can't shoot at each other unless you pick them up and point their feet at the enemy, right?" "We--" "See? They don't care."

Glorious as this is, it brings to mind a question: Are those leg panels beneath the top of the ramps supposed to be tilted down? I see a lot of pics where they're like that, and I'm not sure if that's meant to go that way, or if it's just gravity and hinges that can't support the weight.

And to think, fans used to bitch about Action masters.

To be fair, that was when they took over the main line, rather than supplemented it.

These damn things are addictive.

You know that Transformers with Mega Man-style proportions are totally my jam.

Yeah. I missed Action Masters myself. Heck, I've never had one. They look fun though. I can see the appeal.

I can also see why everyone hated them though. Not only did non-transforming figures supplant actual transforming toys in the line, but it was the swan song for G1 in North America. For a lot of kids and fans the line abandoned its central conceit out of desperation and died.

I get why Action Masters got the flack they did with that context.

Other lines- like Blokees- have come along to prove that the idea has value, it just can't supplant the main line.
The biggest failure with Transformers Red was that they were just... kinda low quality.

It's unavoidable. The instructions don't mention it at all, it's just gravity and hinges in tandem.

Funnily enough this is my first go around with the Power Master Optimus Prime/God Ginrai mould.

I vaguely remember that my childhood PMOP's leg flaps stayed up in base mode. But it's been a long time, I'm not sure what bin what's left of that toy is in down in the basement, and even if I could find it, age might've loosened the joints enough by now that they wouldn't stay up anyway. Or rusted the pins enough that they'd stay up from the increased friction.

Sixo has a review up of Fire Guts God Ginrai and the flaps droop in base mode on his. May just be orange plastic not wanting to cooperate.

My biggest issue with G1 Powermaster Prime was the trailer hitch, I think because it connected so high up on that swing arm, that pulling/pushing the truck (I was a kid) leveraged it and eventually snapped the peg. It is a plain 5mm peg in a 5mm hole, so it won't fall out like the original, it will hang on till it breaks off in the socket.

Careful yours doesn't end up breaking like mine did (well I don't have Fire Guts, I just got the regular God Ginrai reissue)

Mind you it didn't break in a way that ruined the toy or whatever, it still works and looks fine but it still did break.
I have the Hasbro Commemorative Series reissue. What should we look out for to prevent breakage?

I'll admit it was probably bad luck in my case, but back like a year ago, I was transforming him for the first time in a good while and his super mode legs were REALLY tight and hard to swing out for the base mode and I was being hella careful but there are pegs inside the leg that are screwed in place and one of them snapped and broke on his right leg (left leg if you're looking at him from the front) and yeah now that leg (below the thighs) can just come off because that peg snapped.

Like I said, it literally doesn't affect anything, the breakage was on the inside of the leg (so you're never gonna see it) and the way the lower leg attaches to the upper leg is tight enough that like...yeah I can now remove that super mode leg but it doesn't just...slide off randomly.

I don't actually have Ginrai on-hand to take a photo to show what broke (still waiting for it and all my other shit to be delivered by the movers - WE PACKED IN SEPTEMBER BTW, IT'S NOVEMBER NOW IF YOU HADN'T NOTICED) but yeah.

Really was a minor breakage that doesn't affect anything but it is still breakage.
