I love the thought of Rodimus' recall basically being like that one "Homer's photographic memory" cutaway where he remembers Marge with green hair and blue rollers, himself being ripped, Apu having three heads, a baby in the crowd having a beard, and so on.

The list of errors in that FFOD flashback scene just keeps finding more to be told.

Its time travel, there is a plausable excuse that being that going back in time has altered history as one knows it!

while we have out of canon (I.E. OBVIOUS) reasons why these visual errors exist - you know because its a cartoon and humans drew it.

from an in canon perspective we really only have two options. "take it for what it is, and come up with reasons for it that work in fiction" or "Use out of canon context clues discovered later to imagine what the creators actually wanted it to look like and the differences that would make to what ended up actually existing"

in any case, nobody's ever going to be correct, because it didn't actually happen.

if we want to get really meta about it we can blame the cybernet space cube or powermaster Prime for not being good visual storytellers XD

But the Aphla Trion stuff, is time travel, so history has likely been altered due to all of these time travel adventures

Alpha Trion is in the flashback, which is not time travel.

the time travel used in the episodes with A3-alpha trion is what we call "predestination theory" time travel. His timeline isn't changed it happens the way it was always meant to.

there is no branched timeline where the aerialbots aren't there. no Original timeline that got overwritten.

what will really mess you up, is realizing that this is also retroactively why the Vector Sigma Computer created the Aerialbots the way they are, VC is an non-linear Being as it's connected to primus through the well of allsparks... so it has predestination knowledge from later on when it becomes merged with Alpha Trion...
