Between this, China's retaliatory tariffs disincentivizing farmers from exporting soybeans, and whatever bird flu is going to do to the entire meat industry, Trump is going to inadvertently turn more Americans vegan than PETA could ever dream of.

I'd be more happy to see Trump's numbers down if I had hope of a fair election.
Both he and the GOP know they're burning bridges. This is scorched earth with their constituents, their core, right in the crosshairs. They would not be doing all of this, rubber stamping this, if they didn't have a plan to stay in power.

It's the sole reason they are trying to push as much authority as possible into the executive branch. Thankfully the recent elections in Wisconsin and Florida give me a little bit of hope. Despite their meddling, the Wisconsin supreme court race was a solid Democrat victory and while the Dems lost in the Florida races, they were a lot closer than the GOP anticipated, given how solidly red said districts were. We'll see what happens in the two gubernatorial races later this year.(currently it appears that the Dems will likely re-take Virginia and will likely hold New Jersey)

Thanks Trump for firing all those Federal Workers in NoVA and Youngkin doing NOTHING to make sure Virginia goes Blue again. Sure was nice of him to do that for us.

Also I'm hearing rumors that Trump will probably turn the China tariffs waaaaaaaaaaaay down due to the fact that China is ignoring him.

Ironbite-guess someone with a brain got to him at last.

It's easy to reply to any modocom of successful legal or political "win" with nihilism "it doesn't matter, they'll just ignore it". But the fact is, each one of these victories slows their agenda down. Fash gotta spend time, resources, and political capital to deal with each bit of opposition. Never surrender in advance just because there's an overwhelming force lined up against you. Make them fight for every last millimeter, and celebrate your victories no matter how small.
A decent reminder these days.

Small toy company Learning Resources is suing the Administration over the establishment of tariffs, particularly the tactic of using the IEEPA to, ostensibly, combat the smuggling of illegal narcotics (like Fentanyl).
“Imposing tariffs on legal goods has no sufficient connection to combating illegal narcotics. Most critically, the costs of tariffs on legal goods lawfully imported into the United States are primarily borne by Americans; there is no reason why such tariffs and the corresponding harm to American businesses will alter the behavior of the cartels, drug-smuggling rings, and other organizations that bring illegal substances into our country,” the filing says.

In addition, Gamers Nexus has a MASSIVE 3 hour feature exploring the tariffs and its impact on computing and personal electronics across numerous players. I just started watching it, but it might be the best watch yet to get the full grasp of the economic reality. A notable spot early on was how a Logistics and Freight representative from Cooler Master BROKE DOWN all the various tariffs that impact a PC case. How that $100 PC case is now almost $200.

Well, yeah, "We're imposing a more than 100% tariff on everything" means "The price of everything is going to go up at least 100%." There's not really anything to break down.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

But you'd be amazed at how many people do not understand that, and need to have it explained to them like you would a child.

She broke down the logistics to explain the different LAYERS. For example, a computer case that features aluminum is subject to additional tariffs than a straight plastic case. It's a level of deep dive that I think gives more context than what is normally communicated.
