And yet, people still defend that thing.

3P defenders are a strange bunch

I'm not even anti-3P I just find it weird that so many of them will defend absolutely dogshit decisions by 3Ps.
Yeah. That's the thing. I have a few 3P pieces I enjoy. But the people who are really into 3P are REALLY into 3P.

Like I get Hasbro's taken to cheating with Combiners lately, and even HasLab Liokaiser's thighs are fake, but JFC this Iron Factory thing isn't even a Combiner. Not really.

The crazy thing is that if Hasbro did something like this the same people defending this thing would burying it.

Honestly, my take on the whole thing is 'get what fits best for you'. Like a lot seemed iffy on Core Dinoking. For me it was perfect, both as what I wanted in a Micromaster Homage and being the 'right' size for ankle attacks by the Dinoforce on Victory Saber (that actually happened a few times in the show), plus I could accessorize it with Amazon-point Safari LTD armored dinosaurs.

Wait...does that make this a 'third party add-on kit'...?

Anyway, I'd still prefer the HasLab Liokaiser having seen the other offerings as it's actually more economical than most 3rd party stuff, on par with what I paid for the old TFSS, and also fits with my own preferences in giving me big AND small combiner teams, so my HasLab and Friends shelf won't all look the same size in any mode (Victory Saber will get to hang out with the Micromasters, Omega Prime, plus the Origins Autobot trio and Double Pretender Prime).

The Dinoforce weren't Micromasters, though. They were just short.

Probably a bad way to phrase it, but 'a bit bigger than a Micromaster' worked to fight Saber's team, with a combined form to face off Victory Leo. It was pure fluke (I never had the core Dinobots to compare) but it worked. Liokaiser as a 'wrong continuity' counter to Omega Prime may work.

I think I accidentally just rewrote "Transformers Universe"...

I love what we've gotten in the Victory HasLabs. I've been pretty disappointed by what Victory releases we've gotten outside of the HasLabs.

I love my Monstructor, but I was always disappointed by how small he was, even as a kid. As much as I'm impressed with how the new Dinoking turned out, I would hate seeing him standing next to any of the HasLabs and being completely dwarfed. That's a real flashback to some of my least favorite G1 toyline size issues.

Galaxy Shuttle is also disappointingly tiny. To be fair though, I'd be very surprised if he got a Titan release. And to be even more fair, I'm not sure I'd buy it if he did. Even 3 backed HasLabs in, I don't think I'm really THAT invested in Victory to make it worthwhile. Still doesn't change the fact that the Astrotrain repaint feels like it's just wasting space in a storage bin, and I regret having bought it.

I totally get the size issue on Dinoking compared to the HasLabs. For me, though, he's decently large compared to my Kabaya Deathsaurus and Robotmasters KO Victory Saber. Of course, Liokaiser will absolutely dwarf him, but that's a bridge I'll have to cross later....
