HasLab 2025: Liokaiser

IIRC, HasLab Omega Prime unlocked all of his tiers way ahead of the end of his campaign, so I guess he's still in the lead for the quickest success of the HasLab Transformers releases, as it's taking Liokaiser all the way u5to the end of his campaign to get his final tier unlocked (which was also the case for Victory Saber and Deathsaurus).

HasLab Omega Prime was an outlier. I think it's the quickest HasLab to full unlock, period, Transformers or otherwise. If not the fastest then definitely up there.

I mean... it's Optimus Prime. It's almost insulting that they rolled that one out for HasLab. Victory guys? I get it, Japanese characters, most retail consumers may not know/want them. Unicron? A totally insane release that's in no way retail viable. I get it.

But Optimus Prime from a Transformers show that was mainstream in North America? Come on. That coulda been retail. And I think the speed at which he fully funded is proof of that.

I think Victory Sabre/Deathsaurus/Liokaiser are more indicative of how a successful Transformers HasLab will generally go.

There's a very simple reason for this. Omega Prime's final tier was unlocked at 16k backers. Liokaiser's is at 18k backers. It's not a 1:1 comparison.

I'll again link to TranslucentBag's latest graph. On a day-by-day basis, Omega Prime and Liokaiser have traded leads based on when affiliate orders get dumped in. Liokaiser actually hit that 16k order mark faster than Omega, but still had another tier to go. Omega had a big order dump on what appears to be day 38 that pushed him past 18k. Liokaiser hasn't had any such order dump in a little while, and yet is about to pass 18k on, what, day 39? 40?

Either way, there's very little separation between the two. We won't know who's going to ultimately come out ahead until it's all over.

Edit: Forgot to include the link.

Could they have sold AN Omega Prime at retail? Sure, but either at two $90 commanders or even at a $200 titan, he'd probably be hella compromised compared to what were getting. Definitely no blue bolts weaponizer, probably smaller. (Which might have left Prime's smaller bot mode in line with Voyagers, but I digress), so likely no usable carrier mode for UM.

And also, like, they ain't doing two mainline commanders in a year, and I feel like Ultra Magnus would die at retail if he's not available alongside Prime.

RID Prime and UM COULD have easily been done at Commander price points, but as was pointed out, so much would have had to of been sacrificed to fit that budget.

I think they sold so quick because they are great bots who have not had a solid update since their first release. Just a bunch of recolors over the years. Not to mention RID has a special place in a lot of people's hearts. I didnt back it, but I think it was a great concept and I was glad to see it do so well. The only miss with that mold was not releasing the blue version as Defensor.

I think LordGigalce is correct too, these are more accurate as to how your typical HasLab will go with finishing within the last week or so. Im also betting, now with everything unlocked, we will see a spike in preorders from those who were waiting to see if it would go or not. And those who have been working to secure funds.

ha...I just scrolled through the comments from TFW about him being fully funded. Somebody is upset about the $43 / figure mark for it, saying people wouldnt buy this at retail. Honestly, I would have. Look how well the other combiners are doing.

BUT!

At retail, we wouldnt get the breastformers and the weapons for combined mode. At least not in the version we are getting. My guess is it would have been some big weapon by combine the individual bots weapons. Look at the Armada figures, we cant get the minicons to go with them and they were the story line for Armada. And the Victory toys we have gotten at retail have all been repaints, not new molds. So I'm OK with the price that is being asked for him, totally worth it.

That person is dumb. Assuming all seven Liokaiser figures are Voyager sized, all seven would come out to ~$243. Factor in the higher costs that come with a limited run, and $300 isn't so crazy.

So yeah, if this was retail, and they were all priced at Voyager levels, I think they'd sell. That's fundamentally what we're getting anyway, with a markup for the smaller production run.

I swear, this HasLab has brought out some of the weirdest takes. You'd think the people who didn't spend $300 would be less self conscious about their choice then the people who did spend that much, but apparently not.

This one has me scratching my head on how I'm going to display. I really love the individual bot modes, but LioKaiser is so damn cool looking. My CW combiners pretty much stay in combined mode for display. I could see leaving them in individual bot modes and displaying them standing around Deathsaurus. Who knows, these might be ones that I alternate regularly.

Also, good to have some confirmation about DeathCobra's accessories. I'm hopeful they can work out a way to at least get a stand for him.

They'll also happily spend twice that on an unofficial offering.
They sit on thrones made of Iron Factory combined mode kibble.

Same! I'm probably going to end up doing Liokaiser with Deathcobra as the shoulder cannon but man... they all look great individually.

The display will be Deathsaurus standing at the front, presiding, with the Dinoforce in little chairs in two groups, as six of the Liokaiser team carry Deathcobra out as pallbearers between them.

"Did they say anything about his thigh swivels?"
"Yes, he was a parts donor and he saved a few GPS victims..."

-It never occurred to me that they were that important.

All of this actually appeals to me (smaller overall, no unwieldily big Magnus to facilitate car carrying, non-HasLab price tag), but I can definitely see why the HasLab route was just simpler. They're no-brainers to fund, so you can set the price that would do them justice and as long as it's not absurd it'll work out.
