Beast Machines was a great series that took a lot of chances. Not all of them worked, but I'm glad that Hasbro took the shot. Also, it cannot be overstated how impactful the return of vehicles was! I was in the screening room at Botcon '99 when we were treated to the first look at the show...
Qft. Before the internet devolved into a giant mall.
Edit: I've mentioned it before, but to me, The Allspark feels connected to those early TF sites in the best way. It's one of the many reasons why this place has been my internet home for so long.
The Deluxe Insecticons have been on my want list for a while too. To be honest, I want the Omnibots harder and would rather have them. However, these redo / retools are enough for me to scratch the itch, and I feel like they'll do the job just fine.
He's very cool, Gizmoboy - you should do it! I've picked up each of the G.I. Joe crossovers so far, and IMO, Soundwave is the best; he looks good in both modes. I initially felt like the Thunder Machine was the wrong choice of vehicle, but after having it a while, it sort of works. Plus, my...
Yeah, I think that the modern Fasttrack might be a bit on the large side to interact with a vintage Scorponok - especially in city mode. But then again, his weapon mode might be kinda cool for him to hold, so...to each their own, I guess!
^Yep. The alt mode for TR Fort Max (and Metroplex before him) definitely felt like an afterthought. What bugs me the most is that I shouldn't be seeing giant, visible hands in the alt mode of a $150 - $200 figure. Especially when they occupy a prominent spot of the alt mode. Not being able...
Let's see...off the top of my head, they would be:
-The "...and definitely don't shake hands with her!" scene from the G1 episode, Enter the Nightbird.
-Any G1 episodes involving Skyfire.
-Most any scene from The Transformers The Movie is permanently burned into my brain. However, when...
Yeah, I don't think that I would be interested in paying current Titan-class prices for vintage, mostly-non-Titan sized G1 toys. I've got the G1 stuff already, and would be much more likely to buy modern updates of Metroplex and Fort Max. I'm good with Titans Trypticon and Scorponok though, as...
This is fun! I will try to cobble together some of my personal "high water marks" from over the years:
-G1 - Just Transformers existing in general! They're all pretty incredible, but Prowl and Trailbreaker were my first in '84, so they'll always be special.
-G2 - Tank Megatron and Sideswipe...
I am in the minority of folks that think Galvatron could do with a second pass. I get that for most, the recent Kingdom/Legacy releases are fine - and they are. But I feel like his proportions in robot mode need to be tweaked a bit (chest, legs), and he could do with a different better head...
I always liked that Combat Hero Prime mold. Never picked up the Scourge deco of it but it looks pretty cool in black. I personally don't care what he's called, but if he's The One True Scourge to you, cool; if not, that's also cool.
I ceased my in-person toy hunting years ago. It was fun to a point, but became far too frustrating (and expensive!) to continue. If I find something toy-related that I want at a brick and mortar store these days, it's usually a happy accident. Preordering online is definitely the way to go if...
Perhaps the blade would make the set feel more complete. But it would seem to me that having a solid base to hold the figure(s) - especially when wielding the sword - would be more of a priority.
I hear you. I wish that the Tier 2 and Tier 1 Unlockables had been reversed. I mean, I'm optimistic and I think that the campaign will make it to 16k backers. But it seems like stands should have been first.
