Yeah, it was revealed early on that DWJ was only doing the first 6-issue arc. I didn't realize he was continuing on as writer, though. (Definitely won't complain there!)
The wiki described that as Reflector being rebuilt, which I mostly made out. My real question was, if Cybertronian tech is...
Issue two was great, agreed with many of the posts above: the opening convo with Optimus is the highlight of the series so far (besides DWJ's fantastic Art-with-a-capital-A). In fact, I was surprised to find myself "hearing" Peter Cullen's voice during Prime's speech, and I'm not sure I've ever...
Of course the POV is Spike (with Carly)! The entirety of the issue follows Spike dealing with his dad, discussing his future with Carly, stumbling across the Ark, witnessing the revival of the Transformers and deciding to help out the clearly-less-homicidal robot, and then guiding the Autobots...
All I know re: all this BW2 Galvatron talk is: (1) He's still one of my favorite toys ever, and (2) mine has acquired a small handful of busted ratchets, broken clips, etc. over the years, so I would like a new, modern take on him, pretty please.
Considering all the little bits Teletraan was rebuilding everyone out of, it won't surprise me if Teletraan is just able to rebuild Bumblebee. That's assuming they get Teletraan working again, of course, which I'm not sure how they'd do. That's actually the hook I'm most interested in: how are...
Beast Wars was boring because it took so long to do the setup. But the complaint against this one issue is that you wanted more exposition and dragged-out introductions? There's a spaceship crashed on Earth with two warring factions of deactivated robots on it. A couple bad robots and a couple...
Crazy to think that the first IDWverse was the very first reboot of a "G1" universe. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe every other TF media up to that point had either been a continuation of some version of the G1 comic/cartoon, or a complete reimagining a la RID2001 or the Unicron Trilogy.
First issue was pretty great. Story was nothing groundbreaking, but the art was fantastic. I liked the bit with
I do hope the story really goes off in its own direction quickly, though, so we avoid the treading-water-rehash that the BW comic took so long to get past.
As someone who still prefers the Marvel G1 comic origin, I had nothing against Beast Machines' supposed contradictions; all origin stories/myths should always be taken with a grain of salt, after all. Even in the comics, Furman always took care to tell the Primus/Unicron story from a different...
My Marvel TF subscription kicked in at #72, and my copies of 72-80 all have barcodes, while the previous few issues (purchased at the comic store) have artwork instead. My #57 was purchased at a Menards or something, and also has a barcode.
I didn't mind the Sandstorm deco we got, I just couldn't pull the trigger on him because (a) he's sooo tiny, and (b) I wanted the "robot" head instead of the "mutant" version.
There have been a handful of other "Downshifts" since the 80s (there was an Armada MiniCon before the Cybertron figure), but G1 Downshift has yet to receive a second toy.
