I gave up on most of the CW shows years ago, so this is no skin off my back, but it's baffling that they canceled Batwoman and are going with this instead.
That's quintessential Trek; taking a real, modern-day problem and telling a story about it with aliens.
I stay out of Picard discussions because I didn't watch it, which only seems fair. But one of the main reasons I didn't watch it is the impression I got that they were tackling these kinds of...
I mean, on the one hand, I wouldn't buy such a line of ships, I wouldn't have room for them.
But on the other hand, I would still appreciate it from afar. Seeing the original Enterprise be dwarfed by the Enterprise-D in toy form would lock home the difference for me in a way reading about it...
They don't even all fit in with each other, really. I bought a bunch recently when Amazon was having a half-off sale, and they're neat and I like 'em, but scale was definitely not a priority.
Hell, I'm sad Playmates even still has the license at all. They were good in their day, but their upcoming toyline leaves me cold, and imagining what someone could do with a good 6" accessory-laden line.
The longer this show stays good, the more I feel like I'm going to be disappointed when the other shoe drops.
This episode really reminded me of "Starship Down" from DS9. It had everything from Good stuff all around.
I actually tried to watch that aftershow they do, but I couldn't make it...
3 for 3! This one gave off a lot of "Naked Time" / "Naked Now" vibes, continuing the fine tradition of early-first-season-contagion episodes.
If I have any minor nitpick (and it's not even about the events of this episode, exactly), it's
That's funny, I just happened to rewatch that last night.
I'm not a fan film guy, Axanar only came to my attention because of the lawsuit, but I really liked it. I liked Soval bridging the gap between the Enterprise and TOS eras. I liked the backstory given to Garth (one of the half-dozen war...
I've watched a couple of Lower Decks clips on Youtube, and I'm not interested in going any further. A show taking the piss out of Star Trek stuff could be fun, but when it's being made by the same people who are making regular Trek stuff I don't enjoy, I'm just not feeling it.
And the thought...
Saw it tonight, had a lot of fun with it. Full of Raimi goodness. It had three roads to walk (pay off a storyline from a different project, play hype machine for future projects, and function as an actual, proper sequel for the title character), and I thought the movie did all three rather well...
I didn't hate this first episode! That was a nice surprise.
I hated things ABOUT it. I think having two relatives-of-established-characters is just a timebomb waiting until the day comes when they do something stupid with it. I'm not thrilled with Pike knowing about his eventual accident (which...
