Agreed. This Optimus feels a little too big. Since Siege, they've done a great job o maintaing a reasonable facsimile of proper robot mode scale for everyone. This Optimus, while beautiful in isolation, stands out as looking a bit oversized when compared to other figures.
I didn't take a picture of the alt mode, but the helmet is used to recreate the Jackhammer's assault mode turret. The helmet is removable in robot mode as well, with a sticker giving the robot head a Cliff Dagger eyepatch. It's a pretty well thought out set.
Finished applying my ToyHax Jackhammer labels to my extra Trailbreaker. Super happy with this set. Takes what would have been an unwanted "extra" toy and makes it into one of my favorites from the set.
I don't normally go for cell shading or for painted windows, but that is actually a really good suggestion. Don't know how well it would translate "in real life" but I like the way it looks mocked up real quick in MS Paint (the thinking man's Photoshop)
Its definitely a very good Optimus Prime. Probably the definitive Sunbow Op for your main line sort of release.
That said, I've got a lot of other very good Optimi, so I might wait around and see what other sort of releases this thing gets. I can't imagine it won't go through the same bevy of...
Just got back from a vacation to the Norther Chicago / Southern Wisconsin area. Back to work today, but at least I get to see my office cat for the first time in a week.
I'm not a huge Stormbringer Bludgeon fan or anything, but I do appreciate that they went so different from the baseline release. If I'm going to buy a same-character redeco of someone I already have, I would much rather have something like this than just a slightly improved paint job.
Hmm..I'll have to check mine. I got it the other day, but due to everything I've ordered in the last 6 months all arriving within the span of like 3 days, I haven't gotten around to checking them out yet.
I played KOTOR on PC, which was my only exposure to Cortosis. In that version, it didn't short out sabers, but lightsabers couldn't cut through it, so that a traditional sword made out of it could dual against someone with a lightsaber.
Prime and Bumblebee were the high points of the line. There were a lot of good molds in Classics (and some not so good) but those two remain some of the best toys we've ever gotten of the characters.
