The 'remix' work on the prototype tracks just blows my mind. They were never particularly strong tracks to begin with (my pet theory is that they were just placeholders and not really meant to be used) but I can't comprehend how they thought the muted, discordant slush they made for Origins...
I was wondering how that was going to work. So they had the other remakes and cobbled together a collection with the new one. And it sounds like they did a typical Sega job of it.
On the plus side, I think I appreciate the original prototype tracks a lot better now.
Wow... Actually reading through it now, that's... That's horrific and paints the image of him basically using the dying Roddenberry as a crutch for his power trip.
Like, it doesn't really absolve Gene of the more shitty things he did before that time (the whole thing with Alexander Courage...
Fascinating! I'll have to read up when I have the time. Thank you!
I haven't really had a deep dive into Trek history in a decade or so, so relatively new stories will be a treat.
Out of curiosity, where does this come from? It's the first I've heard of it and since no one brought it up when I referred to the tale earlier in the thread, I'm naturally curious.
Lucille Ball doesn't get near enough credit for her role in Trek being made and it'd be a huge mark in her favor...
That seems odd, given that she has, like, two roles in the final series. Nurse Chapel and the computer voice. But I wouldn't be too surprised if they said that. Like... Few people say they're bigots outright, it's usually couched in seemingly objective terms.
In regards to Discovery and...
It really depends on how you feel about Michael Burnham. She's, like, the central figure in the show and a lot revolves around her and her relationship with Spock. Especially early on.
Personally, I found it incredibly exhausting and while I've heard it gets better after the time jump I'm...
No, Kirk's already in command by that point.
As far as I recall, the chronology of Pike's accident in The Menagerie is pretty vague. All we know is that, at some point Spock finds out that Pike is confined to a wheelchair and that the aliens from that world are willing to give him an illusion...
Speaking from personal experience, it's frighteningly easy to lie about who you are to placate family.
Yeah you may face inner conflict over it, but you don't have to worry about your own family turning against you or actively abusing you. Obviously I can't speak to Viola's family or how they...
I don't know when I'll be able to post next, I'm... Not in a good place.
Full disclosure: My doctor's office screwed me over on my ADHD medication... I was taking adderall, but, long story short, my doctor quit and the office, for one reason or another strung me along until it was too late to...
It's understandable to feel weird about it. I went 40 years before getting on meds for my ADHD, partly because I kept telling myself that I didn't need them. I did just fine as I was. My mind was changed when I found out that a whole host of issues I dealt with were very likely due to untreated...
Might as well push ahead... I've just been too busy and I don't want to hold things up any more than already.
I'll work something in when I get a chance
Look, Darth Maul got chopped in half, then got better, while Padme died from being sad... Star Wars does not have consistent rules for death and this is nothing new.
I could totally buy Vader leaving Obi-Wan as being too pathetic to bother with... He kind of is at this point. He probably wanted an epic duel to prove his superiority, but instead his old master spent half the fight running away and then kinda flailing pathetically.
I can totally see this...
Yeah, for all intents and purposes, Pike has an entirely successful run on the Enterprise before handing it over to Kirk. Kirk doesn't even know Pike was crippled until the events of The Cage.
I do think it's a mistake to expect characters who were on TOS to be identical to their portrayals...
