Bumblebee was actually decent. If they'd followed on that with more smaller-scale films focused on smaller casts that got to actually be characters instead of set dressing, it might've been able to...
The whole point was to reduce the number of cashiers needed and cut back on payroll. Didn't quite occur to them that maybe people aren't going to be entirely honest. Or that most of the underpaid employees assigned to watch the things aren't all that motivated to do much about it.
