Riker's dad? His dad wouldn't have been old enough to be in the TOS era. Remember Kirk was out saving the galaxy when Picard's grand father was in diapers.
Spock was captain of the Enterprise at that point and Kirk was taking command for the mission. Spock knew that Kirk was one of the best Captains of the fleet and he outranked him as admiral, and had no ego to get in the way of Kirk taking command.

It doesn't have to be in scale. They could have just had a top section that opens up to reveal a bridge. Maybe a little jail cell in the back, and a couple of pop out turret spots for your figures to sit in.
I am just saying that its been a while since we had a good useful playset. The Nemesis would have been a good way of doing that since its just remembered for being a space ship.
I went ahead and ordered a copy of Windows 11 on USB from Newegg. I want to put this together, but I might have to wait until the weekend to do so considering how packed our night time routine is with the kids. Maybe waiting until the OS gets here this Friday or so will be a good reason to hold...
The first officer's job is to advise the captain and give him options. Then once the captain chooses a course of action, its Riker's job to carry that out. Riker does this perfectly in the series.
