There's an arrangement error in the TFTM folder. Unicron's first model sheet is placed between Springer's model sheets and separated away from the rest of Unicron's models.
The two-parter already existed, and served as a proper finale for the 2010 series, so they didn't have to go to the trouble of creating a new finale of their own.
You're reading too much into that line. He's not a monster because he's a large turtle man, he's a monster because he's a tyrannical despot bent on conquering and/or murdering anyone and anything that gets in his way. Physical ugliness is not the root of all monstrosity.

Into Darkness took the iconic, emotional scene of Spock's death from Wrath of Khan and turned it into a laughing stock. A bad joke.
