I'm still amazed that, despite that being the case for the Batman crossover comics, it was not the case for the animated movie. New York City and Gotham City just coexisted as separate places in that film, with the Turtles simply driving over from NYC to Gotham. Total subversion of expectations...
Q was only added to the first episode after Roddenberry was pressured by Paramount to expand the first episode from one hour to one hours. Roddenberry originally wanted that first episode to only be about the encounter at Farpoint, with no inclusion of Q at all.
