IDW made G1 versions of lots of originally-non-G1 characters. Here's a sample group shot of some:

I'd laugh it if was the entirety of Kang's narration speech, with the final movie having him instead give a similar yet completely differently-worded speech.

With a little imagination, I could see them finagling a helicopter out of the cannon mode with a little retooling and some new add-on accessories. Namely, by turning the cannon mode around and making the helicopter from the backwards...

Unfortunately, that was always going to happen. Like I said above, the very first draft of the script saw Optimus killed off.

Season 4 didn't continue beyond "The Rebirth" also because the TV networks were done with Transformers. It was considered old news by that point. In 1987, the new hot stuff for kids were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and DuckTales. Those were what the networks were interested in.
Well, if we're talking over-complicated timelines, there's always this monstrosity that I had to piece together myself (since no one else would): The Beast Wars expanded universe timeline as created by 3H and Fun Pub.
And with the recent presentation of the original first draft script of the movie, we know that Optimus Prime was always going be killed off no matter what. So one way or another, the sadness that people felt from his loss would have still been a thing.
Just one thing. The stream system debuted in 2008. The two Kiss Players timelines were published in 2006 and 2007, respectively (with the TFWiki article that first introduced the combined timeline to us English-speakers debuting in October 2007). ;)
