Ah, nice! It looked half familiar, but I couldn't place it. And since Solus was wearing an Octopunch suit during Power of the Primes, I guess there's a Mayhem Attack Squad connection there, too. All very interesting and ripe for multiple story possibilities.
I actually don't dislike the blue and grey color scheme, but that head doesn't really suit the body. Needs maybe a head based on a Cobra B.A.T. or something?
Agreed on all counts. Everything looks great other than Prime Breakdown, who's pretty "meh." I don't have enough invested in Breakdown to be upset about it or anything, but he's definitely the least well done of the bunch. For people that were hoping for a GOOD Prime Breakdown, I could see...
That is an interesting idea. A foil for the Autobot matrix of leadership, which is passed on willingly from one leader to the next. The Decepticon "matrix power" is won by defeating and killing the current host.
Plus, it feels good to see Sunstreaker shoot random deathbot #274B3. You don't want to think about Thundercracker's robo-wife and childbots starting to worry when he doesn't come home that night.
It's just more of a "Saturday morning cartoon bad-guy" thing for the rank-and-file villains to be disposable, nameless, non-people. You're supposed to care about each and every one of the good guys.
Possibly? A few years ago, I would definitely have agreed, but the current design team seems to be more "one of us" than some past teams. Plus, it's not like they have shown an unwillingness to do the same characters repeatedly with slight variations/improvements. Just look at Ironhide going...
Preordered. I actually prefer clear windows, but I needed that sweet sweet Jeep Hound, and I never managed to get a Sunstreaker the first go round. I have several Jazzes and several characters from this mold, but not the overlap in the Venn diagram, so 3 out of 5 are "new" to me. Trailbreaker...
I more or less figured that the mold was always intended to be a half-way point between the two Skyquakes so that a new color scheme/head would be all that was needed to go from one to the other. But to your point, honestly, even just being in G1 Skyquake's colors would be enough for me to buy...
I have to assume the tooling already exists for the G1 Skyquake/MW Starscream/King Atlas remold, so hopefully we see it at SOME point in the future, be it in Selects or some Walmart or Target exclusive subline or something.
I mean, we have to be getting G1 Skyquake at some point, right? The mold was pretty clearly designed with him in mind, even including the combining-with-smaller-jets gimmick.
It wouldn't be the first time the obvious use of a mold wasn't ever done, but it would seem especially shocking in this...
