I was 4, almost 5. I can't remember if I saw the actual premiere during it's original airing, but I know I watched the cartoon pretty regularly and was a fan.
A million times this. My go-to "I have birthday money to spend" trip to Kay-Bee toys used to be buying a Transformer and however many packs of Battle Beasts I could afford with what was left over. I didn't know until adulthood that they actually share the same fictional universe.
Unexpected find yesterday. The family and I drove a little over an hour away to a tiny little Central Illinois town to see the theater premiere of a documentary that a friend of mine made about local celebrity Chili Bowl Mullet Man (that sounds made up, but I assure you that it is true)...
Haul from an estate sale yesterday:
Several of them are missing limbs or accessories (is a Wing Thing without wings just a Thing?), and Gobot Zero is too floppy for anything but a "paint me like one of your French bots" pose, but there are some good finds in there.
The Fantastic Four are a big one. I don't follow modern comics, really, but from memory of the old ones I used to read, none of the FF really kept a "secret identity." They still answered to their civilian names and wore civilian clothes at times, but there was no separation of those from...
I never did pick up jet Elita. I do like how she's more similar in size to your average Optimus, but I was a strict Trukk-not-playne G1'er. I love Earthspark's take on her earth mode being a big offroad truck to give her some mass to work with.
I really do like this, but that price is a bit higher than what I had hoped. I was figuring on roughly $50ish modern Leader price. $75 for just the cab is a bit too much, I think. I think I'll wait and see if there is a more reasonably priced domestic release.
Christmas 1985. Not 100% sure if this is Sludge or Snarl (leaning towards Sludge). They were the only two Dinobots I had as a kid but I'm not sure who came first.
I did the exact same thing. I initially avoided the Siege Seeker mold completely, waiting for the eventual Earth jet version. But once I bought Hotlink on sale and realized how nice that mold was, I caved and bought a few more.
