  1. Bettering Yourself

I guess machines build most electronics these days, but they have to be designed by a person. And if anyone wants it repaired instead of replaced when it breaks, a person needs to do that.
  2. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Half of Lake Ontario's shores are in the state of New York. I didn't know that Toronto was right next to the lake, but NYC isn't REALLY far from there and the opening of a new important bridge touching New York would be national news. Watching on an iPad while doing work on my computer. I do...
  3. Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

I have mused several times, especially right after 2020 election that Giuliani made his bones taking down the mobs and then ran for mayor of NYC and won and had what I have believed was a good reputation of cleaning up NYC. He was pretty widely hailed as a hero in the aftermath of 9/11 and went...
  4. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I really liked the scene where La'an and Kirk appear in Toronto and Kirk believes it is NYC and La'an is incredulous because it obviously isn't. I went right along with him. I knew the big screen wasn't right for Times Square, but I didn't know what year they went to and I'm accustomed to TV...

You probably recall that I grew up in a Republican home. At this point in 2007, the only part of the Republican platform that I still cared about was abortion and it pretty much looked like Rudy Giuliani was going to be the Republican candidate and he was ProChoice. So I bought Obama's book to...
  6. Bettering Yourself

I don't think mazes are enough to do the trick. They are still available, but they are still only being presented to kids because they are kid stuff. Sudoku is probably good for your brain. Cryptoquotes. Mindbenders. Things that make you exercise your brain.
  7. Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

I told my wife this last night. He can't release it because they'll need it in court. But no worries! The Georgia trail will be televised. We will eventually get to see it.
  8. Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

Is Mike Pence in this because he likes to campaign and there are enough donors to make it possible for him to have a little more fun before going into retirement? I can't believe that he thinks any constituency is possible for the guy who both legitimized Trump's 2016 campaign AND failed to get...

It is likely you are right. In his infinitesimal wisdom, Trump has sidelined a whole party. But I do still think if the timing hits right when it becomes obvious to the people who matter that Trump is not capable of fielding a campaign when it counts, DeSantis might be able to capture his fire.
  10. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Yeah, I got carried away. But Pike thinks he's gonna die. He said no one could survive what he saw.
  11. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

After Season 1 Finale irritated me by relegating our hero to someone who would wreck the galaxy if he didn't die in order to glorify the hero of another show, Season 2 Premiere hit with a bunch a strange new character decisions in a story that felt uselessly big. I was feeling pretty...
  12. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I would like them to nail home what is implicit in canon. Chekhov was VERY promising. He shot up the ranks after that 5 year mission. Circumstances stymied him until Kirk's retirement, but he was really going places. So it would make sense for Kirk to be sponsoring him.
  13. Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

It is a testament to Trump's power that he is front-runner in a primary and has liabilities the like have never been seen before and most of his rivals defend him rather than capitalize.

    Yeah
  15. Traitor Watch - The 45 & 47 Thread

I hope the irony of Giuliani going to prison on a Rico charge isn't lost in all of this.
  16. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

It would be fanwanky and unfortunately so if they gradually brought everyone from TOS in and then pulled Pike and said "Voila!" What did we see in "Quality of Mercy"? Pike had stayed in command and kept all of his same crew except La'an (who had already left) and Una (who was already...
  17. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

You aren't really immersing yourself in this prequel thing. Most of us knew Spock played that instrument already.
  18. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I didn't see anyone saying this last year. I just watched the episode this morning and I didn't care for it at all. I'd like to talk to the producers about it. Why are we doing any of this? All told, I liked Season 1. On its good days it was pretty good. On its worst days it wasn't worse...
  19. Bettering Yourself

Lots of people do. While it is possible that juggling could improve your brain, I would go another route. It will be a lot of work. The main benefit of learning to juggle is entertaining people. If that part doesn't appeal to you, it isn't worth the effort. You can probably improve your...
  20. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

We watched 4 episodes last season and then it was never what my wife wanted to watch, when we sat down. I waited. But I am on a two week staycation and I'm getting caught up. The storybook episode wasn't fun for me. They wind up making it very consequential at the end, but if it doesn't come...
