Yeah, if they can basically just recreate the original figure's transformation, but with some improved hip articulation and much more secure shuttle bay doors on his back, he'd be a pretty reasonably simple figure to engineer.

I second the desire for Hasbro to use the Japanese color scheme of Armada Powerlinx Optimus, which was also the version of the deco that appeared in the cartoon.
The red eyes and silver mouthplate on the dark colored body even make him look a bit like Optimus Primal.
Funny you should say that, because this line was inspired by one such custom that was on display at BotCon Japan 1997.
Alas, the program guide seems to be the only image of this custom online (even if it's just a drawing).
