No. That is not how it went down. Neither Bay, Orci, nor anyone else working on the movies gave a darn about whatever was going on in the tie-in media. All they cared about was the movie itself. All those comics, books, games, etc. meant nothing to them.
Otherwise, the movies wouldn't have kept...

RIght now, I'm viewing the forum with a big annoying TFSource ad showing up smack dab in the middle of the Transformers Discussion forum page, instead of at the top of the page where it's supposed to be.
EDIT: The ad keeps flip-flopping between TFSource and BBTS. Both on my phone and on my laptop.
That doesn't make any sense. Those comics, books, and the ARG all had S7 in them at all because it was going to be in the movie itself. Those were media produced specifically to promote and hype up the movie, using things that were going to be in the movie to do so.
The main benefit of Core class Beast Wars and Beast Machines toys means they'd be closer in scale to how the Maximals, Predacons, and most Vehicons* were much smaller than the Autobots and Decepticons in those two cartoons and their related tie-in media.
*Tankor is the notable exception, since...
Unfortunately, given their track record with the other Prime designs in Legacy so far, the current Hasbro team is more likely to G1-ify that design rather than leave it show-accurate.
