I was in from the trailers just from mention of Obari directing, but was slow getting around to it because of the subs delay + general watching stuff motivation is rough to get going these days, but all the reactions to the big stuff got me to go see.
At this point I'm still so fatigued by the continual Switch Pro hype that I don't think I'd even believe a follow-up console existed even when I saw it.
Insecticon wasn't terribly articulate, but was incredibly chonky, even for the era of chonk, and had that delightful way of making the back bug legs into the lower robot legs. It just unfortunately had a pretty bland set of base colors that didn't help elevate it like Battle Ravage and...
I'd put them on my honorable mentions, for sure - or at the very least, Rippersnapper and Blot. Rippersnapper, I was definitely considering for a top 5 slot, since I got him long before the rest, and he got a lot of play - and then Blot's just Rippersnapper, but different, chonkier, and purple...
To be fair, that was about the time period where the Legally Distinct Camaro altmode was getting pushed onto most iterations of 'Bee, so I can't blame someone much for them all running together.
...ah, that's what happens when I was out of the loop for several years, for some reason I thought they did Titan Masters first. (I guess because that one IDW Brainstorm happened before I fell off, maybe.)
At least it works as a personal anecdote, since I got Topspin and Twin Twist before I...
Love 'em:
-RotF Leader Prime, I'm the big outlier on this guy
-Classics Prime, just smooth
-Armada Tidal Wave, platonic ideal of size, heft, and ratchet joints
-Titans Return Topspin, slick as hell and the leg split step was so cool before Combiner Wars utterly ran it into the ground, broke it...
Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission were my go-tos for this back when I still had physical copies and hadn't upgraded away from the DSLite yet. Ought to see about re-acquiring them so I can have a go at that again sometime.
I dunno if Eldora V is indicative of an overall quality increase, but it's definitely a fair bit nicer than the regular Rune Gods and Gradion. I know I heard some iffy things about some of the Patlabor kits that I think predated the Rune Gods, so I'm hoping Goodsmile's just finding their feet...
...well, it only took me a year and a half to get around to Selece and complete the trio.
Looking back at the datestamps for Rayearth and Windam was a mistake.
It is quite a bit nicer on a more normal Seeker body, and with a bit of saturation added. I do kinda miss the white arm stripes, but those probably wouldn't play nice with all that WFC greeble.
