I have Legends God Ginrai, with leg stabilizers. And the PE kits for a transforming Ginrai. He looks pretty nice and has a spot in my main display case. However, he's still horribly unstable and badly in need of an update, IMO.
I actually really like his size. Victory shows him being the same...
Aside from combiner-mode stability, I can appreciate one thing about the frame approach. Combiners have always included mass shifting as a basic tenant of what they are. In virtually every media where they exist, the combiners are larger than simply piling their component bots on top of each...
It's definitely more kibble than CW, since CW Long Haul fully formed Devastator's waist and thighs. It is pretty comparable with G1 though, just with Devastator now being more fully formed between his stomach and knees.
Given that Devastator was always a very kibble-heavy combiner, I'm more OK...
Anger comes next, yes? Followed by offers to anyone who can help improve it?
I tend to fly through stages 1 and 3 myself. 2 and 4 are my sticking points. I still haven't moved on from realizing the Choco Hot Rod kit I bought was defective and unbuildable. I can't even remember how many years...
I just finished watching all of the show that's out so far. Feels kinda crazy, but I realized that this is the first time I've been all caught up on a current TF show since RiD2015. Maybe even since Prime. o_O
Maybe I either misinterpreted or am misremembering, but didn't it turn out that...
I don't remember the head size being the big complaint. I recall his teeth, and his eyes to a lesser extent, being the big issues with that design. Good luck picking the right grille and headlights, I guess...
Lore is not at all restricted to old stuff, and it isn't static. There's the brand lore (the war, Optimus & Megatron, the 13, etc.), which gets reinvented to some extent all the time. Then there's the lore for each individual series, which inevitably has some overlap with the brand as a whole...
Mine was in storage for a large portion of these two years while we recovered from a basement flood, but he's out on display now. He's in my big display cabinet, backing up Rodimus against Unicron.
I should specify, I'm speaking from an out-of-universe perspective here. To me, "elevating" Optimus from a normal bot who becomes a great leader to being a semi-divine direct ceation of Primus feels like it's directly aimed at taking one of the core aspects tied to Rodimus (being Primus's...
From the wiki's Covenant of Primus page:
Edit: Forgot to point out, this is also the order of the statues in the AotP artwork. Prima is first on the left, and it goes in order to Optimus at the right.
For me, the 13 are the first, most direct crations of Primus. The Matrix is a portion of his...
Ultimately, it doesn't matter if the 13th Prime is Optimus (Star or otherwise), one of his predecessors, one of the other Autobot commanders (Fort Max, Victory Saber, etc.), or anyone else. In my collection and display, they're all just going to be backup for Rodimus against Unicron anyway.
I...
SS86 Grimlock with Wheelie was a retail-budgeted release. Toxitron Grimlock with swords was an exclusive-budgeted release. AotP Grimlock is a retail release, so it uses the retail-budgeted version. I think it's really just that simple.
We can speculate all we want about how much each accessory...
I'm really surprised to see Onyx being all orange. I know his Prime Master was, but I wasn't expecting any of those to be used as a color guide. He's always been primarily black otherwise, right? I mean, it's right there in his name.
I always found Hardhead in Quake cosplay to be passable, but not at all compelling. The new one's tank mode certainly isn't great, but I like it better as Quake than TR's, and the transformation is interesting. Overall, I'm definitely much happier with the new one.
Superion is mostly what I expected. I'd guessed that Silverbolt would just be the storage container slung under a jet that would turn into the frame/base. The actual toy having a full transforming Silverbolt is an improvement over what I was expecting. Means his combined jet mode will almost...
'79 here, too. I know I watched the cartoon on TV, but I couldn't hope to pinpoint exactly when I first saw it. I remember frequently renting VHS tapes from my local rental store, especially MtMtE, Heavy Metal War, and TFTM. I didn't get to really watch the full series until downloading them via...
I never really got into G.I. Joe much. Didn't watch the show much, no comics, almost none of the toys. The only exception was this game. Never owned it, but rented it and really enjoyed it. I even ended up buying a bunch of the toys that were featured in the game. I remember loving playing as...
I think I remember there being a trick to get his two components to connect securely. Or at least I have a vague memory of them not holding together until I did something different. It's been quite a while since I've handled him though, and I can't get to him at the moment, so afraid I can't...
