Blasted Effing Blast Effects are Eating My Transformers!

I distinctly remember getting a used RotF Bludgeon in a bundle of misc Transformers, but for the life of me, I can't find it now. Kinda wondering where it is, and hoping it's not damaging anything else...

I tossed mine after his hands broke but the treads were already melting the attachment points and the parts of his arms and thighs they were touching by that time.

Maybe I should sell him before he shares the same fate now that I have Legacy Bludgeon.

I had no idea that they were bad to leave in. I have had some in on my tfs on my shelf for years now.

RIP those figures

(well hopefully you just deal with some paint stripping, which is still bad but not like 'actually damaging the plastic' bad)

Spare a thought for people who overspent on the BotCon Overlord.

Or did everyone immediately toss those after Titans Return Overlord came out?

Part of me still wants to backtrack and get that for a sort of Earth-2 Overlord, but it was already not worth the expense before factoring in the melting treads.

I remember taking my Bludgeon out of storage as soon as I reaad about that. It's a shame; it's otherwise a clever and very cool mold. Maybe I should track down a Legacy Bludgeon and get rid of it, idk.

This is how I store mine.

I pretty much have taken to doing this, upgrading from a big ziptop bag with all of them in it (probably not a good idea long-term). Got into a really intense "buy up little organizing tackle box things" phase this time last year for various things like RID2015 clear armor bits and WFC-onward blast effects. Even printed off little labels so I can organize them by type/color (so the colors don't leach into each other).

Problem is, now I want to collect and catalog all of the damn things.

They should have thrown it away when they saw the face. Eyes with different area codes, oversized head that didn’t even try to match the body and a Handsome Squidward looking mug.

Overlord had the same problem?

And I did take out my box of Blast Effects that have been in a cardboard box for a year, no picture as it just looks like I said, a bunch of blast effects thrown into a small cardboard box. No separation or the like. And they're all fine. No paper or anything to keep them from touching. So whatever causes the problem, being put in a box with just other effect parts doesn't seem to cause any trouble.

i don’t know the exact type of plastic they use for blast effects but they shouldn’t be affected by plasticizer leaking because the material is designed to soak the stuff up. It’s the harder ABS and nylon plastics used in transformers toys that get melted by the plasticizer.

If anything I think the blast effects might be affected by the dyes of some staining the others.

Years back when we learned about the Bludgeon soft tread problem, I looked at mine and it was being damaged. I removed the soft treads from my Bludgeon, Banzaitron, GDO Megatron, "Gigatron", and Cloud Megatron. Ever since then, I've been wary of the soft plastics. I've always stored my blast effects separately since then.

Hard to see, but the big circles on the legs should be smooth. They have divots melted out from the treads.

Every now and then when I'm toying around with an older figure, I'll notice a pinned joint made of soft plastic against hard plastic that gets a little stuck. I can pop/snap it loose, but I know it's melting. I can't think of any examples off the top of my head.

I should go back and actually remove the damn things. Is that difficult to do? I don't remember the construction on this mold, with rivets or screws or whatnot.
