I stayed up way too late to watch the whole season last night. Made it hard to get up and going for work this morning, but worth it!

All in all, I continue to really enjoy the show. If I had to level a criticism, I guess the thing that jumps to mind is that I don't feel like it quite reaches the highest peaks of previous seasons. There are lots of high points from previous seasons that I like to revisit periodically. This season has its share as well. I just don't know that they'll have the same enduring draw as things like the Bloody Tears battle or Trevor's fight with Death.

Finished it too.

Actually had awesome fights at the end (I love the dragon and I realize its game canon as Maria's four heavenly beasts phoenix, tiger, turtle and dragon).

I didn't play any game with Juste but his signature elemental magic is ice? Richter kept switching from electricity to ice too.

Alucard even did his classic Dracula move, haha

I didn't like the slow pace at the start but still a cool ending.

Juste is able to use five spellbooks (fire, ice, thunder, wind, and summoning) that he can combine with the traditional Castlevania sub weapons to produce various spells. For example, when he created a couple spinning ice crosses that shot out little icicles, that's the spell from the game when you combine the cross with the ice spellbook.

Basically, Juste generally played like a standard Belmont, but with the ability to cast a bunch of spells too. Of all the Belmonts, he appears to have most strongly inherited Sypha's magical abilities. Just a shame that his game wasn't all that great. Really, the basic plot and his spell casting are about the only things I remember about the game. Oh, and his decorating obsession.

So who's the next Belmont? At this point, Simon is probably the most boring.

If they want to milk Alucard further, then Soma Cruz's adventure would probably be next, right? Aria of Sorrow is actually the first Metroidvania I played (before Symphony of the Night) and having a Belnades and the could have been Grant DaNasty counterpart Hammer would be cool.

What's wrong with Simon? His teamup with Megaman and Kid Icarus (totally not Pit) was interesting to say the least. His adventures going up against Mother Brain...I always thought he was an interesting, though maybe rather buffoonish Belmont.

Given that the Netflix series isn't keeping Dracula as the overarching villain, I am curious what they would do with Simon. His games were very straightforward missions to defeat Dracula and his army of monsters. Not a whole lot there to base a show on. The best option that jumps to my mind is to bring in some Lords of Shadow influences. Have it be that his parents were killed when he was a child, he was raised as a barbarian, and is now on a mission against their killers. Somewhere along the way, Alucard shows up to help him out. Maybe also have it turn out that his father became a vampire, just that now Alucard and daddy are two separate people.

If the show does eventually transition to a new generation, I'd say Julius would be the best option. We've never seen his battle before. We've only seen its aftermath through Soma. Julius has a nice setup, epic stakes, and a supporting cast all built in. I'm just curious if they would bring Dracula back for it since that was all about his final death, or if they would continue to let him have his peace.

Julius would sort of be a clean slate, since we never saw his final fight with Dracula. As long as Hammer or a Grant is around.

Oh, saw this. Juste's spell attacks, exactly as said above.

I would actually prefer to play Julius' fight against Dracula. But if just as an anime, I would love to see it in some form or another.

I think they’ve left enough hooks for an another run with this cast. Marie’s continued “dark side fall” and that demonic entity paling around with a clearly corrupt Terra Are the biggest to me. If these two seasons were a loose adaption of “Rondo of Blood”, then the next pair could be a rough adaption of “Symphony of the Night”, with Richter being called back to the Old World as the entity seeks out Dracula’s Castle to restore his power.
As is, it feels like this entity is some remnant of the “evil Dracula” we saw expelled at the end of the second season. Might also be a nifty way of incorporating Dracula’s infamous “second phase” where he transforms into some kind of demon/monster-thing.

An angle that could be explored with Simon is the idea of OTHER vampires trying to take up the mantle of “Dracula”. Maybe have a season or two of him thinking his father WAS Dracula, only for it to be revealed that it was a lie. From their continuity, his ancestry could be tweaked for him to be an “offshoot” of the Belmonts that scattered during Trevor’s time, being discovered and “reconnected” via a late appearance by Alucard or something. Maybe even tie it to Nocturne by having that demonic entity be involved, “powering up” the false Dracula and later cursing Simon (leading to a pair of seasons to adapt Simon’s Quest as he tries to use his new found heritage to exorcise the entity).
