Fuentes told police that he was "in fear for his life" after his "your body, my choice" declaration went viral and led to outrage among many women.

I hope that this isn't just an excuse he gave for attacking that woman.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying; I want it to be true that he fears for his life after posting that tweet. I like the idea that this scumbag thinks he has to live the rest of his life with his head on a swivel because of the shitty things he's said and endorsed, even (or maybe especially) if no one is actually out to get him. I'll be very disappointed if it turns out he only said that because he thought it would help him avoid charges.

AAhh, thank you for the clarification.

Of course he only said it to justify his actions and appear sympathetic to authority. I think he was a little too high on his own bullshit, and actually thought there wouldn't be consequences.

Then he got doxxed.

Conceqences came knocking, and he responded with mace. Between this and the rumours of his homosexual encounter: he's going to live in fear either that the women he's threatened will come after him, or one of the right wing, rabid, alpha male types will gun his ass down as a traitor.

So now some right-wing billionaire will swoop in and buy the IP and give Jones his job back.... Hopefully if that does occur, Jones' wages get garnished for the rest of his life to repay what he owes. Man is a serial liar peddling in dangerous conspiracy theories, he doesn't deserve to make money doing that.

The Onion CEO Ben Collins previously said he intended to turn Infowars into an "alt-media" parody hub.

I'm not sure I like this plan. Taking the name of a real hate-speech outlet that has caused over a billion dollars worth of measurable harm and using it for a parody of one seems...insensitive. I was really hoping it would get bought by someone who plans to just liquidate their assets and then bury the brand forever. Maybe burn the headquarters to the ground and sell tickets to come watch. I'm sure the victims' families who supported this buyout did so because they figured it was the least bad option available but it still sucks.

Conversely: the people that believe and follow infowars are also completely without critical thinking and research skills. They could be sold completely harmless bullshit and bad comedy instead of an endless stream of hate; they probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference and the rest of us get a break from their bigotry and hatred as they unknowingly get programmed into adam sandler clones.

In the end I think The Onion still gets it, they'll just have to pay a little more. Probably another 500K for the victims.

At least I hope.

Would figure it would be polio. Ol' mitch probably saw more than a few of his grandkids in the iron lung.
