Macross is now on Hulu and Disney+ in the USA. It's a dream come true.

ALL of those?

Robotech was this elusive thing when I was a kid. It did not air on any of the channels I got, but my brother saw it at grandma's house and told me about it. I never saw it. It had JETFIRE in it! When I saw Robotech as a grownup, I was pretty disappointed. I saw Macross Plus the Movie also as a grownup, 25 years ago now. Given what I said, is there something in there that someone would still recommend to me? I like transforming mechs and I like SciFi, but I don't like music saving the day...

Macross Plus is pretty much the only one where music doesn't save the day, really(arguably music CAUSES the problem in the first place). That's a core part of the Macross franchise... like asking for Gundam without Newtypes or Newtype equivalents. (Yeah, G Gundam exists, but so does Macross Plus)

I enjoyed Frontier (though I haven't tracked down the movies). It at least has an in-universe explanation for why music saves the day; the Vajra have a hive-mind and communicate through something similar to whale song, and they've bonded to one of the show's Songstresses, so her singing screws up their command-and-control and can eventually even hijack the collective itself.
