In late 2020/early 2021, Flint Dille began the clearout of his storage and the auctioning of many items from his 40 year career in animation, RPG and computer game writing. Among them was a binder containing the outline for parts 3-5 and scripts for parts 1-4 of Five Faces Of Darkness. Thanks to the contribution of its new owner - along with a separate contribution of the part 5 script and call sheet by Sharon "Tut" Laborde and Monzo - all of this material is now available to view at the Sunbow Marvel Archive

With those comments of "Hasbro is concerned that the Predacons don't play a big enough role" in mind, it'd be interesting to see this kind of thing for Rebirth... "Hasbro is concerned that the following 68 characters aren't receiving a prominent enough role..."

Blitzwing did always feel like a rather random choice for the role, and now we know what really happened.

Given that Blitzwing then got replaced by Octane, it's a shame they didn't just go ahead and write the part for Octane in the first place. Probably didn't have any information on him at that point for that to have been possible, but still makes that whole situation that much more disappointing.

I agree that Blitzwing and Octane were too random, especially after their actions in Triple Takeover and Thief in the Night.

To be fair, all five Decepticons who were reformatted into Galvatron's new troops show up later in TFTM after said reformatting scene. Skywarp and Thundercracker are at Starscream's coronation, while the Insecticons show up (and one even gets a speaking line) on Junkion.

Originally the Decepticons made it to Cybertron without incident, they were about to commit Megatron's body to the vault (also the coronation chamber) where a fight over leadership broke out and their battle destroyed both Megatron's body and some of the monuments causing the life sparks of Megatron and ancient Decepticons to 'escape' and be given bodies by Unicron. The scenes with the Insecticons and Seekers were probably animated before that alteration.
If you freeze frame parts of when the Decepticons swarm Unicron after he attacks Cybertron, you'll spot Starscream there too, maybe he was going to live.
