How is that NOT a violation of free speech? Thankfully I don't live in Florida and have no intentions of visiting it, so I can publish whatever I want, paid or not, about the Fascist in Chief of Florida and his top crony, as long as it's true.

But they can justify the protest thing by the protest interfering with vehicle or pedestrian traffic and such(even if such possibilities aren't likely, they are, in a weaselly way justifiable). Not sure how you can claim such things for freedom of speech/press are concerned, especially when you specifically exempt newspapers and corporate news sources from said bill.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Except they don't even have to do that because in florida it's legal to run people over if their protesting blocks your car.

Florida Republicans seek new abortion restrictions amid broad rightwing push.

Florida Republicans are planning a broad rightwing legislative push, including new restrictions on gender identification, diversity and equity programs, abortion and press freedoms, and further relaxation of concealed weapons laws and the ability of courts to impose death sentences.

The basket of proposed legislation comes five months after the state’s rightwing Republican governor Ron DeSantis won re-election by a decisive margin and the Republicans established a convincing majority in the state legislature.

The broad push is seen by many as following the Republican governor’s ideological wish-list as DeSantis positions himself for a likely 2024 White House and an attempt to wrest the Republican party from out of the shadow of Donald Trump.

Last week, Republican lawmakers moved to expand the state’s controversial “Parental Rights in Education/Don’t Say Gay” law with proposed legislation limiting the use of gender pronouns within parts of the public and charter school education system...

There won't be another world war. The people whom control the resources now won't allow it because a conflict on that scale will destroy their resources.

There will absolutely be war like conditions, but no one will dare say "world war 3".

...[W]ow I never cease to be amazed at how many youtube commenters support fascism just so their "team wins hur hur"...

YouTube comments are basically the subtitles to any conversation in the rough area of a school playground or any dodgy pub the world over. I wouldn't get involved with them. It's where those that have nowhere else to post end up doing so (at least with the larger videos, which attracts the general public).

Ron DeSantis and his Republican allies in the Florida legislature have their eyes on a new slate of bills that targets teachers and marginalizes already vulnerable students in the state. The proposals, which the GOP-led body will take up Tuesday when they return for a new session, include measures that would prohibit educators from using students’ preferred gender pronouns, eliminate gender studies and diversity programs in higher education, and cede more power over curriculum to parents. The half-dozen bills, which also include plans to weaken tenure for university professors, ban discussion of gender and sexuality in third through eighth grade classrooms, and implement a universal private school voucher program, are an intensification of the classroom culture wars that have defined DeSantis’ reign in Florida — all as the governor inches closer to announcing his expected presidential candidacy.

“There’s a new bill every day,” as Democratic Florida Representative Maxwell Frost told CNN on Sunday. “He is abusing his power and using the state to target political opponents and political enemies. And there’s a word for that, and it’s fascism.”

Art, not pornography: Florence museum invites Florida parents to see the David.

Hard Core.png

The Florence museum which houses Michelangelo’s David has invited the board of a Florida Christian charter school to visit, after the school’s principal was forced to resign following parent complaints that pupils were shown an image of the nude sculpture in a class.

Hope Carrasquilla resigned as principal of the Tallahassee Classical school last week, after the school board told her to quit or be fired. Carrasquilla’s exit came after three parents complained about a lesson on David, with one parent claiming the 16th century Renaissance masterpiece was pornographic.

They had to branch out from the Nazi manifesto some time. And completely and utterly missing the point in the name of meaningless cruelty is what Republicans do best.

Disney responded to DeSantis taking over the Reedy Creek board by having the board agree to give up the majority of their power the day before DeSantis's cronies took over.

Well played!
