I don’t know when or if I’m going to watch “Rise of the Beasts”.

I’m just curious about what that guy in the metal suit is supposed to be. My guess is that he’s either a Headmaster or Powermaster, but for what character?

Yeah, what the guy in the suit is, is supposed to be a surprise for those who watch the movie.

G1 Rodimus Prime had no growth in Season 3. The entire season was spent trying to figure out how to get rid of him because they wanted to bring Optimus back.

G1 Optimus Prime had no growth in Season 1 and 2. The entire two seasons were spent trying to figure out what to do with him because they already demonstrated his role in the pilot.

Honestly, character growth was a rarity throughout the G1 cartoon since the show cared more about shilling as much product as possible than trying to make its characters grow and mature. Off the top of my head, the Aerialbots (especially Silverbolt) undergo the most lasting character growth in the whole show, even if it only spanned two episodes ("The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2" and "War Dawn").

The G1 Constructicons are the Decepticons’ most valuable asset. They will never be killed off. They will never go away. Every G1-based interation of Transformers, cartoons and comics, will include them. G1 Devastator will always be perceived as the most powerful gestalt. They have the most durable presence in all of G1 Transformers. The Constructicons’ postion in Transformers lore is solid and safe.

Or like in GI Joe the Movie... "He's slipped into a coma."
In fairness, they kinda changed that for... different reasons.

Kinda.

Hell, if anything, I guess Transformers kinda proved the watchdogs and S&P people right.

The Combaticons and Bruticus are the #2 Decepticon special teams.

People really like the concept of military and space vehicles.

They’re not featured as much in cartoons and comics. They are not a staple in Transformers like the Constructicons.

They do pair well with G1 Omega Supreme, the Autobot Defense Base.

The Combaticons also pair well with the Constructicons as demonstrated in RID 2001.

Season 3 Decepticons stole all the character growth budget.
G1 Galvatron showed the greatest growth here:

(cued to 2:50)

with G1 Galvatron and G1 Optimus Prime shaking hands and making peace. Their relationship fully developed.

Optimus Prime also himself grew a lot along with everyone else; he even said we’re all a little wiser now and it’s up to us to fill the Matrix once again.

It doesn’t get any better than G1 Optimus Prime leading his Autobots saying, “Autobots, transform and roll out, “ and driving off into the sunset.

No one questioned his position as leader, not even Hot Rod, Kup or Ultra Magnus. They stepped down and moved out of the way, stood to the side, unlike Bumblebee in RID 2015, while the humans apologized to him. They knew who was the boss bot, the big cheese. Heck, even G1 Galvatron stood in line behind the humans waiting to shake G1 Optimus Prime’s hand out of respect.

Sidenote: Why is G1 Optimus Prime shorter and smaller than Hot Rod, Kup, Galvatron, etc. in Season 3 when he was bigger and taller than most everyone else in the first two seasons. G1 Optimus Prime is a Semi-Truck; Hot Rod is A Lamborghini. His tech spec even says he’s the largest Autobot.

The Transformers 1986 Animated Movie was a cinematic Masterpiece but:
Are you being serious right now or...?

I mean I'm saying this as someone who loves TFTM and considers it the best 80s anime OVA that isn't actually an 80s anime OVA but also it is very much not a cinematic masterpiece.

I’m saying it in the sense that it broke the Tranformers fan/non-fan barrier. That is quite a feat for The Transformers 1986 Animated Movie to be loved by non-Transformers fans, and perhaps converting them into Transformers fans. I’ve given that movie to “normies” who had no interest in Transformers, vaguely recall that it was an 80’s cartoon, who are grown adults now and they were surprised, absolutely blown away, and said it was awesome!
