I mean there's lots of reasons why I should go to jail but being a Minerva fan is probably not one of them.

Lemme guess. You returned a VHS tape to the library without rewinding, again.

Just like we had plenty of beasts between the American G1 and Japanese G1, we already had Rescuebots in G1:

Also, we had another team of Rescuebot Junior Headmasters in Masterforce, which included a Carly-like yum-yum named Minerva. So we didn’t need Rescuebots or Rescuebots Academy, which both looked very sterile in comparison.
You bite your damn tongue.

Much as I love the Protectobots, Rescue Bots ooze personality by comparison.

Not to mention, they occupy an entirely separate place in the Transformers world.

You might have a point. Rescuebots was educational and kid friendly. G1 tended to treat human and animals reallybad. It could be scarring to children.

You want to blow your mind about children's programming? Look for "Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons" (or even New Captain Scarlet, though it is seemingly more adult-aimed). Something is destroyed, and people are killed (usually on-screen!) literally every episode. In fact,
the Captain Scarlet at the beginning of the series dies in the first episode. The indestructible Captain Scarlet throughout the rest of the series is actually a Mysteron duplicate that breaks free of their control.

I'd also throw in Exosquad. Most of the main characters have plot armor, but I recall there being a lot of E-frames being blown up, and given they're basically power armor, there's not much room to escape.

It also toys with the implications of humanity basically making a sapient slave race. Though they're technically freed before the show begins, a lot of the conflict is still caused by that, rather than glossing over it like other kid shows might have back then. There's even a couple hints that the E-frames themselves might be developing their own minds from their tight integration with human minds(as they're run by direct neural connection) but the show didn't run long enough for them to do anything with it, if they were planning on following that up.

If we're talking cartoons that are somehow both family-friendly and uber violent at the same time, nothing tops The Legend of Prince Valiant.

Lotsa deaths happened all throughout that show, with even the bodies shown onscreen. They got away with so many onscreen (and a few off-screen) murders and war casualties all because they refrained from showing any blood or gore.

It also had more language freedoms than most kid cartoons at the time, in that it was allowed to frequently take the Lord's name in vain and occasions refer to "Hell", "Satan", and "the Devil". There was even a medieval analogue for the KKK as a villainous organization in its second season.

And it originally aired on channel known for its squeaky-clean programming, even: The Family Channel (long before it became Fox Family, then ABC Family, and now Freeform). A whole year before Batman: The Animated Series first hit the airwaves!

As an added bonus, it's shockingly one of the few times Tim Curry was part of the main cast of the series and didn't play a bad guy.

I wanted G1 Unicron to succeed. He was so close:

I did like the part where Starscream basically told Scourge that G1 Astrotrain was superior to him because he has more cargo space. G1 Starscream was so mean and cruel here. I felt so sorry for Unicron.

I feel uncomfortable with the Japanese G1’s use of the term “Godmaster” and “God on! “. I’m more comfortable if they would use the term Powermaster and “Power On! “

Nope. Powermasters exist in Japanese G1 as a separate concept from Godmasters, even if their toys use the same gimmick function.

Optimus Prime became a Powermaster in Japanese G1 named "Super Convoy", separately from the Godmaster Ginrai. And Super Convoy's Powermaster form was coated in a protective shielding colored black:

The word "god" has very different connotations in Japan from those it has in the Western World.
