I'm actually pretty excited about this line. I've actually kind of wanted something similar to this for a while, with Transformers from all across different time periods. I'm 50/50 on it always being the same 4 guys: on one hand, it'll make for a nice through-line where you can compare and contrast how different elements of a character get represented in different technologies. On the other hand, I can see how people would be bored with getting the same 4 over and over, and some characters will just have more interesting alt-mode options at different time periods (thinking like the Kreon Warriors idea of Soundwave as a 1930's radio, etc.).

Already making a mental list of timeframes I want to see represented:

WW1:

Ancient Rome:

WW2, for sure, with all kinds of options there.

Some kind of 50's B-movie retro future? Basically all Buck Rogers-esque alt modes.

Taking some inspiration from other Kreon Warriors, I would also take:

1930's gangster vs. G-men

Pirates

Feudal Japan ninjas/samurai.

The 80's through current has all been fairly well represented at some point or another.

I'm thinking I might pick up the Megatron/Bumblebee set, as I really dig that cannon Megs, and train Bumblebee looks pretty good. Starscream is decent, Prime is meh, and they both seem too brightly colored for the aesthetic. I usually like bright colors but HoS is something that actually needs some grime and darker colors I think.

It'll be interesting to see what the later timelines are. Kinda wish they picked a different Autobot than Bee personally.

I think HoS Starscream gives them a lot of leeway going forward. He's not based on anything real like Optimus, Bumblebee, or Megatron. He's just this vaguely steampunk plane that fits the vibe without being based on anything specifically from the real world.
That means that we could see some fun stuff. I'd love a Renaissance-era set complete with a DaVinci flying machine Starscream.

And Megatron could be that weird round tank thing

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

press release makes it sound like different preexisting looks but that well’s gonna run dry pretty quickly so IDK.
In addition to being a totally awesome badass that everyone loves, Boba Sue is also delicious.

Dude was defeated by Han Solo who couldn’t see, bonked his head due to a damaged jetpack and got eaten by a completely immobile ground-based creature. The stormtroopers that got beaten up by Ewoks had more dignity.

On the subject of fallen heroes (or whatever), I can see it now, as in my nephew's Thomas setup, Thomas stops to say hello to three new engines he hasn't seen before. Then Optimus, Bumblebee, and Astrotrain transform to robot mode, do a little jig, and Astrotrain transforms into shuttle mode and blasts off into space.

Thomas spends the rest of his life in a padded Steamworks building SCREAMING....

It looks sufficiently bright to me.

On one hand the sepia colouring and darker, copper-y aesthetics would make some sort of thematic sense but I think they were just going for accuracy to the last time these designs appeared in comics and some brand consistency.

Also yeah... retconning HoS to be part of Shockwave's master plan was dumb

Dunno why Megs and BB aren't up yet, but Prime and SS are available for preorder.

I wonder if it's down to flash settings or whatever (I've been trying to figure out how to color correct a friend's video to fix greenish blonde hair since I got home from work so my eyew are a bit fried). But the pics of Prime in this gallery seem to show a better, deeper red and blue. The official pictures show a more baby blue-ish hue that's a bit off-putting.

I assumed the Megatron set sold out before the premium advance period ended. Was that a bad assumption on my part?

They only put up the Optimus/Starscream set. We don't know when the other pack will be put out yet, just that it had a tentative release date of "Fall 2025" (Prime/Starscream releases in July).

Since the nephew with the train setups has something like five or six different scales, after I give these to him, I can probably get actual pictures of the Autobots on a real track pulling cars of some sort. That might be interesting...I doubt they'd ROLL on them, though. I actually avoided getting him the MP trains for both cost and fragility, but even with the prices being higher than I'd like, deluxes are MUCH easier to swing.

I wouldn't call it a retcon... more like a sidecon.

Or maybe a deceptive con.

Like some sort of... heeeeeeeeeey...
