Because, unlike Jallguar, Rapid Run has the advantage of sounding just like Agent J from Men in Black: The Series.
I think if you take a couple appropriately sized blast effects, you can put them in Jaruga's hands, and have an instant jetpack. Problem solved.
Then take them out after you get the picture you want so they don't melt the hands.
I do wonder if there will be anything detail-wise in the final products since they don't seem to have Deathsaurus's chest-panel filler (not surprising considering their size) but we'll see. Everyone seems to want to treat this as though it's the absolute final, when they've clearly stated that while it's the solid concept, there are still things being worked on.

The legbots pretty much look like CW Longhaul already with the additional condition of Killbison’s tank mode being worse than Legacy Quake’s. I don’t see how the pants were such a big win.

You have to honor what the original did right and make concessions where it makes sense . Leg bots are easier (they're already doing it well with the Constructicons) than a lower torso bot (which they have yet and seemingly can't get right in modern combiner).
Yeah that's true. Even if that leg bulk was integrated, it wouldn't just disappear. You'd have to find some way of incorporating it into the figure, which either means a bunch of panel forming or just having the leg kibble hanging off them.
That said, it's not like it did Killbison any favors, though looking at the toy it appears to be mostly a visual design choice than one brought on by engineering? Like it doesn't seem like they couldn't have made him look more tank-like with the given design.

Yeah, that tank is rough. I hope that's one thing they're able to improve a bit.
The components, all of them honestly, have a lot of chunks to them. Seeing photos next to Deathsaurus and CW Liokaiser really puts it into perspective.

HasLab is pretty cartoon accurate as far as placement. More so than the original surprisingly. 
But those aren't the current ones. I thought Legacy Mensasor and AotP Superion were taller?
Here's another shot. When you consider that Menasor is hunched a bit and the rest have to stand straight (or possibly fall to their deaths...).
