Sorry, but nobody's started a Timelines or Hearts of Steel thread yet and the convo's already here?

You could start one? Why discuss that here when it’s clearly a HasLab discussion?

I also don’t understand the hate for this offering. Some of you worry about to many of the details instead of enjoying it for what it is. For me, he’s gonna get combined and put on a shelf. I’m not going to put him together and take him apart and act out battles like I’m 8 years old again.

I get the chest force name change. It is what it is. Hellbat I feel like could have stayed. Seems like such a petty thing to change.

Hoping at some point, either though mainline or HasLab we can get a Road Caesar.

Meh, "what it is" includes good and bad, and people are calling out each in reasonable ways so far. I'm glad you have a clear plan for this in your own mind, but so do others (which may or may not include acting out battles like they're 8). People are allowed to want different specific things from their purchases, especially those that will be quite a bit heavier than most.

I just want to get a Hellbat so I can have him and Mindwipe sighing as Kup points to them saying "NaNaNaNaNaNaNaNa, NaNaNaNaNaNaNaNa...."

"This happens every time we appear in public..."
At first I thought you were gonna say you would have Kup sighing at the two of them as they each try (and succeed) to hypnotize each other at the same time.

I was a little surprised to find out that the combined form is 12 inches. How big are the current crop of Combiners?

Close, I think. There's a display with a boxed G1 Liokaiser, the combined CW Liokaiser, and a gray proto of the HasLab, and the latter two look comparable (HasLab is a bit taller and a fair bit chonkier and wider).

This is where I am with this. Integrating all the combiner parts is hard. I get it. But if there's a way to make it happen, I would expect Haslab to have the leeway needed to make it happen.

And I would expect frigging Liokaiser of all possible combiners to be the one that can pull it off. I know they're not going to do it with Devastator. But Liokaiser?
You either get a really good combiner and really good individuals with one extra part or a combiner with terrible waist articulation and really good individuals or a really good combiner with a badly sized and proportioned individual and 5 good individuals. There is no way to do a really good 6 member combiner with really good individuals without an extra combiner piece somewhere.

Less we forget.

Some people may feel this concession is acceptable but the Hasbro and Takara teams do not. Hence their approach with both Devastator and Liokaiser.

Most CW combiners are about 12 inches tall.

I think it works for Long Haul, who is generally characterized as the muscle of the group more or less. I get them wanting to keep to his cartoon proportions for Studio Series, but he's one where I feel him being a big chonky boy works.

Escpially when you have Dump Trucks like this in the world:

The CW Constructions were supposed to be giant mining versions of their traditional vehicle modes, but everyone whined back then about them being giant mining versions instead of being just their traditional vehicle modes.

Especially about Mixmaster being "backwards".

I genuinely really liked CW Long Haul. I'll take different proportions, which can diversify the team visually and serve a character purpose, rather than "it's 2025 and we want to need combiner pieces." Fists, okay. Fists and forearms even, sure. But entire waist and upper legs as if this were Sixbuilder is a whole different level.

And I don't think it's too much to ask from Liokaiser, where TWO members make up the overall torso and divide the labor of providing bulk and connecting bits.

If we can get six really good individuals that aren't all built to combine without the included upgrade kit, how much of a combiner team is that?

One thing they definitely are striving for is a combiner is something is good (articulation, aesthetics, and stability) in all three modes:
- Individual robots
- Individual vehicles
- Combined mode
Based on what we've been getting for the main lines this year into next you either get:
- Menasor / Superion Commander skeleton frame / weapon emplacement
- Devastator limb & torso extra integrated bits
- Liokaiser missile hwacha for Jaruga

If the 3 options, this is by far the least extraneous and makes the combined mode on par with the original as far as parts integration (which had the head as the one extra part).

As I mentioned, you could either have a combiner with no leg articulation, a very compromised waist component member, or some extra bits that still integrate into the overall set fairly well.

Can you imagine the backlash if they did anyone of the others? There is no perfect solution.

I've been waffling, but I think I can do it if I am *very* stingy on the next year. Liokaiser for me, and the Steampunk Transformers for the nephew. That would give me Deathsaurus, Victory Saber, Omega Prime, and Liokaiser for my 'no borrow shelf' (my 'personal set' of Transformers that he isn't allowed to take home) and it would give him Transformers that turn into trains, and I can tell you from experience, they will be wearing Play-Doh Thomas faces in ten minutes.
